Sure, these days have almost every game sporting the newfangled 3D, but way back when, everyone had to live with plain old 2D. 2D, or two dimensions, limit the game to scrolling backgrounds, but some games even now make use of this basic concept.
Games that allow the player to adjust a character's level to any point between Level 1 and the actual current level of the character, allowing for the player to adjust the degree of challenge without changing the game's difficulty level. First introduced in The World Ends With You.
Some of these games were trying to approximate the person's actual features with little success, and others stylized them on purpose. Either way, no one would confuse the resulting characters with the people they represent.
Endurance racing is racing a track for very long periods of time. An example of endurance racing in video games would be the 24 hour Le Mans in GRID.

The concept of lives in video games evolved to let the player get a second chance after failing once. The most recognizable symbol is the heart.
Passwords are codes used to save a player's progress, primarily during the 8-bit era and, to a lesser extent, the 16-bit era.
A place to fall, often bottomless, usually resulting in death.
