THAT was exciting. Holy crap, a single drop and Justin Wong lost everything. Marvel peaked at 144k.
EVO Championship Series
Concept »
The World Fighting Game Championships in all but name. Since 2000, the Evolution Championship Series has been the most prominent fighting game tournament event. It features the best players from all over the world.
EVO 2013 Preview (July 12-14) Live from Las Vegas, 3 days, 9 fighting game championships to be decided!
@zella: Street fighter 4 looks brutal too. This EVo is totally aawesome.
Sad that Justin did not win but Zero was not as dominant as people want to believe he was. It is all about skill and this time Flocker was the better man. And even then what could have been happening if Justin hadn't had to play so many matches.
Good stuff, super evenly matched (perfect aside). KoF is more interesting in general but that was a hell of a final.
@fluxwavez: dont forget that japanese people watch at nico as well. Streetfighter 4 will be insane in the number of viewer counts^^
That was nearly historic! Wow. Justin did say his main goal was beating Chris G at EVO, and he did that. 2nd, man. Very nice. Looking like an early JWong up on stage.
Anyway, congrats to Zero and Flocker!

I could be wrong but couldn't he have played it safe and spent meter as well?
I've been watching on-and-off over the weekend, and I've found UMvC3 the most entertaining from a pure crowd energy perspective. I understand Melee fairly well, so it's more entertaining in that sense, but the energy of the UMvC3 crowd has been super contagious.
As a relative outsider to fighting games -- I've basically never played one besides Smash -- this has been educational if nothing else.
KOF was fantastic as well. You should rewatch that final.
Ono's bad english.
Ultra street fighter 4^^

I was out this afternoon and missed that. Looking forward to SSFIV -- it seems to be the main event. Realistically, if I ever got into a fighting game, it would be SSFIV or P4A -- KoF just seems too niche to be my jumping-in point.

Should start with KOF finals.

SFIV is great and all... but Divekick should be your jumping-in point.

Thanks, I'll check it out soon.

If I'm going to play a fighting game, it's going to be a serious business, fight stick game. Divekick seems surprisingly good, but it looks like a sort of elaborate in-joke for existing fighting game fans.
Oh, well, if you're interested in getting started in fighting games, then I'd say SF is good and even Skullgirls is quite nice.
@grantheaslip: SF is great place to start because its the source of all the fundamentals you need (spacing, links, mixups, crossups etc) and this goes for any street fighter so if wanna do 3rd strike or Super Turbo (lot of people still play these on GGPO) those are great places to start as well ! then after that I'd try out a a faster paced more chain based and combo oriented game like marvel, skullgirls or P4a.
Xian's already up there, and PR Rog's making it tough for Infiltration.
GIVE ME A GEN/ROG GRAND FINALS.
Mannn That was rough. PR Rog seemed like he had it, but that Hakan hard counter. Ouch.
Still so close despite the hard counter.

Those yoloheadbutts were just dumb. I'm so disappointed in my man :(
I mean, top 8 is always crazy but this top 8 was CRaZYYYYYYYYY. All of them are fucking monsters.
Fuck man, when has a chip win ever been so hype?
I haven't watched every single EVO, but I'm pretty sure EVO 2013 was the best EVO of all time. Everything all weekend was seriously awesome, and Sunday finals pretty much made my heart stop and my brain explode every few minutes. Just a simply fantastic tournament all around. Thanks to everyone who made that possible.
