What's the screenshot key in this? I tried print screen but I just got a black screenshot.

I personally do not click on small thumbnail screenshots, it's too much of a hassle and I can't see what I'm clicking on. I like seeing them as big thumbnails so I can click on those that interest me. I'm guessing others think the same way, so if you want your screens looked at I think you should post them as big :)

I wasn't expecting a bunch of night shots. Somebody post some beautiful scenery.

I'm using FRAPS, so I set my sexy screenshot key to * on the sexy NUMPAD.

@Fattony12000: I'm familiar with your threads Tony and I like them and have posted in them many times, however I'm telling you that you might wanna consider posting at least some of them as big thumbnails because I never did and will never click on the small ones, and it may be the case for other people too, which may mean that while people are thankful for your threads, they don't view your own screenshots. I could be wrong, it's a friendly advice.

Don't you have Fraps? If you don't wanna buy/use it, you can use the free screenshot function in Steam.

I think this game looks nice. In a year when it is a couple dollars on the Year End Steam Sale I will pick it up.

I used the ingame screen capture key wich is prnt scrn, it disables the HUD.

2012 is home to awesome faces. Sure L.A was last year but this year AC3, Black Ops 2 and Far Cry 3 all have excellent facial animations. Really want this game!

Hey there friend, I clicked on the small ones that looked interesting, and Tony was able to post more because there weren't 50 images taking up the entirety of the screen. Maybe if you didn't see things as "black and white" as you do, you would understand the reasoning behind his methods!

Took some pics: 2 X MSAA and 2 X SGSSAA with 16 X Anisotropic Filtering and HDAO

Those faces look kind of amazing.

I own Far Cry 3 on PC (got a boxed copy) but the parts for my Gaming PC aren't coming until Monday and I will only be able to build after the end of next week. Threads like this (and the box right now) are just taunting me.

So glad I am finally jumping into PC gaming though.

So I just bought this on steam and preloaded it. In a few days I can add to this. The thing is is that I have a fairly modest laptop so it kind of feels like I'm gambling. So I'll try to get at least a consistent 30 fps and post in here what the game looks like. I'm hoping that it look at least as good as the 360 version but runs at a more consistent frame-rate. If it does then my gamble payed off. Otherwise...fuck.

Tuesday is gonna be awesome.

I dont know if these were put here already, but take a look at the difference between 360 and PC version.

That's a huge difference. Especially considering the Xbox version's inconsistent frame-rate.

@Colourful_Hippie: I'm on an i5 2500k at 4 GHz, 16 GB RAM, and a single overclocked MSI Twin Frozr III GTX 570 (920 MHz clock, 2000 MHz memory).

DirectX 11 is on.

Alpha to coverage is set to enhanced.

SSAO method is set to HBAO.

All the stuff that I've posted up until now has been at nearly all ultra settings at 1920x1080 (with both vsync and GPU buffer set to 1 frame, my screens are running at 60 Hz).

I've now bumped up everything to ultra and set MSAA to 8 (the maximum). Still at just 1080p due to my screens though, I can't be bothered with mucking around in a high resolution windowed version of the game to get sexier shots.

Yet.

Playing on max FOV.. deployed wingsuit.. looked all the way down, and this happened:

I'm wondering if the slight bluring is caused by the game applying some of it's own additional Post-Proccessing AA or effects, because if so that would funk up like this if/when you also have FXAA or other forms of AA such as that (which I do). Could just be weird I guess.

Disappointed in the lack of boobs on this thread.

It's okay, I built it to handle Battlefield 3 last year, and I've had no reason to complain to far! I average 55-60 fps in most places. Even if I'm driving or hand gliding into a big firefight it still stays above 50.

You should try setting it to SSAO or HDAO for screenshots, HBAO causes some ugly haloing.

Isn't HDAO for AMD cards, and SSAO a more efficient, less high performance-based type? I haven't even really touched those settings, but I'm more than willing to give 'em a go, especially now that I'm running at full ultra settings.

Technically yes, that's what they say, and that implies it won't even work on a non AMD card... that doesn't seem to be the case those. HDAO runs and shows a noticeable AO effect for me on my Nvidia 560, and it looks better than the rest of the AO options in-game, even if it's a lot more subtle. You should take a gander through the neogaf 'far cry 3 performance thread' as there are plenty of talk about all that kinda stuff, and screenshots showing people's tweaking of the in-game options along with other tweaks they've been doing (not very much right now).

EDIT: The in-game screen capping does in fact apply some blur and extra post processing to the image along with removes the HUD. Very nice, I wish more games would do this... the reason we take screenshots is because the game looks stunning, and some quick extra work on the games side like this really makes things even more rad :)

I wish there had been a whole set of missions just set on burning things, the fire stuff has always been underplayed in the far cry games and I think it is so rad when it happens but it's always never the goal of the game at all... it's a fully ancillary thing that is way more rad than a lot of the game proper.

BTW Fattony 12000 your pic just to the left of the American flag pic is now my PC's wallpaper.
