Fire Emblem: Awakening
Game » consists of 11 releases. Released Apr 19, 2012
The thirteenth game in the Fire Emblem series and the first for the 3DS. Conceived as a "greatest hits" of previous Fire Emblem ideas, it features a mix of new mechanics and older gameplay concepts.
Who did your character marry?
Being a UK Duder we only just got Fire emblem a week ago. So this thread is fresh to UK.
I married Mariel like one mission away from meeting Tharja and went "Dammit! I would have Married Tharja!" Or even Anna.
I am ever reminded how big a mistake I made with what happens in later of the game, I would have been happier with Tharja.
I haven't played a Fire Emblem game before. Is marriage mandatory, or can you opt for a Mass Effect-style asexual run?
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I think Chrom gets married no matter what. If you are careful I think you can avoid marriage with everybody else. However if you want to unlock all the characters it is mandatory.
Other than Chrom and Sumia and Sully and Stahl who I just had to pair up I just started throwing random people together. So far I've got the following couples.
- Chrom and Sumia
- Lon'qu and Olivia
- Ricken and Cordelia
- Kellam and Panne
- Libra and Miriel
- Frederick and FeMC
- Sully and Stahl
- Gaius and Tharja
Man I really should get back to playing this game.
On my Lunatic playthrough I paired everyone up strictly with the plan to get as many characters with Galeforce as possible and, barring that, maximize the number of classes available to each offspring by avoiding overlap between the parents.
- MC and Nowi (I get an extra Manakete this way too!)
- Chrom and Sumia
- Frederick and Lissa
- Stahl and Miriel
- Vaike and Maribelle
- Donnell and Sully
- Kellam and Cordelia
- Gaius and Tharja
- Libra and Panne
- Virion and Olivia
- Gregor and Cherche
Also I was just thinking about how weird it would be for the MC to marry Lucina. It's like, hey baby, I saw you get born, now lets get it on. Then to have Morgan show up later, which would be even more strange because ostensibly she'd be from a completely different timeline? Man this game is strange.
My character + Lissa
Chrom + Sumia
Frederick + Cordelia
Lonqu + Thajra
Virion + Sully
Owain + Lucina
That's all for now.
@medacris: Yeah, Chrom is the only character that has to get married. It's really easy to avoid it with everyone else, as even when they've reached a high enough support level to hook up, there's still a menu option you have to select before they actually become a couple. The only downside is that the support menu will be constantly lit up because there are relationships the game is ready to advance. Also if only Chrom gets married, you could end up missing out on 12 new characters.
Sorry if I missed this somewhere, but who does Chrom marry as a default if you don't level him with anyone?
Just out of curiosity. Chom and my MC got married almost straight away. I get the Sumia thing but I just had a hard time seeing her with Chrom when her profile reads she has 'Shockingly low self-esteem'. I felt the guy deserves a lady who's got her shit together.

If you never pair Chrom up with any of the ladies he can get to S with at all (or they're dead/already married) then it's a random village girl who gives Lucina shitty stats. If all of the girls are at equal affection then it's in this order, I believe: Sumia, Maribelle, Sully, Olivia, Female Avatar.
In answer to the thread, Tharja first playthrough, Chrom second (obviously was a lady for that one) and Tiki third. Yeah, I've been playing this game waaay too much...
Let me see...
Kaosorer (My avatar) - Cordelia (I've always liked cordelia, even before the game, I'm gonna miss her in the next game :(, may have grown too emotionally attached)
Chrom - Sumia (cynthia looks good with chrom's hair colour, she looks way better and besides, they were made for each other)
Lissa - Stahl (a really cute couple)
Frederick - Miriel (it just happened)
Lon'qu - Olivia (they are both from regna ferox, had to make sure in the end, they were close and happy. besides I like them as a couple)
Nowi - Henry (both playful people and the S-rank conversation was pretty funny)
Vaike -Panne (meh, never really used them but I had to get all the children)
Ricken - Maribelle (okay, this one was pretty needed, I mean ricken did help maribelle a lot)
Gaius - Tharja (I liked both of them, but sadly most others more suitable have been taken, but it turns out they were also quite suitable for each other, both doing anti-social activities and also made noire have incredible skill as a bow knight)
Sully - Gregor (again, needed all the children and also had enough destiny, I will not marry her to virion!)
Libra - Cherche (not sure, but okay, that's fine.)
Noire - Inigo (thought they could be good support for each other, trading happiness for glum)
Severa - Owain (I liked owain and severa was my daughter, my daughter needs the best)
Morgan - Gerome (gerome was another person I liked, my daughter needs the best)
Well what can I say..... I thought I had seen only a character who inpersonated marth and whooops it was a blue little hot chinese woman I was lost to that point... She had to be mine..... Specially since it's kinda kinky ..... More fun and If I had a wife like that someday I would Never Cheat because she'd probably cut me down with the parallel falchion.
Lets see... I went
Chrom:Sumia
Avatar: Lucina
Lissa:Stahl
Miriel:Ricken
Virion: Sully
Frederick:Cordelia
Lon Qu: Tharja
I have not yet focused on anybody else. I must say this, tho I am sure I am not the only one who feels uncomfortable with "The Monk" who seems to be asexual I only found it right to place him with Olivia who if in reality existed would probably be a porn star and a lesbian :)

My female main character married Lon'qu after she assaulted him with figs and managed to actually get him to get close to her.
Miriel, a sorcerer couple. On Hard, Nowi and Donnel's kid leveled up to such a beast I just passed the turn with her on the field and watched the enemies disappear.
I went with Nowi because I'm creepy like that.
Seriously though, it was because she was a dragon, and I still have that child inside of me begging me to marry a dragon, so I did.
Why did literally nobody have their avatar or anyone for that matter marry lucina? Their child morgan is literally my strongest unit.
WHOA, WHOA, hold on a minute here! In my playthrough, Morgan is Lucina's brother! That's pretty fucking weird.
I played as a female mage and married Chrom, and it would just feel weird any other way. I haven't had any of the children marry yet.
I haven't actually finished the game yet - I'm still picking it up occasionally and playing a round or two - but I'll fire it up and find out who's married to who so far.
Avatar/Chrom
Henry/Tharja (talk about pairings that make a whole lot of sense)
Lon'Qu/Miriel
Ricken/Nowi
Oh, wow, that's actually it. For all the grinding I've done, that's the only couples I've got. Gonna go do some more grinding...
Ricken/Nowi
So you're saying you endorse pedophilia?

Anybody who marries off Nowi has done something questionable. Why didn't you quote any of the other people who mentioned Nowi?
I had her paired with Ricken because they're both pretty much kids (or look like kids, Nowi's got that stupid "actually very ancient" excuse), but for some reason, it didn't really hit me that Ricken is going to grow older and Nowi isn't until afterward.
My tactician didn't get much love on the line-up front, and I chose not to select her weird doll-face very often. In the end, she did not marry anyone.
Chrom / Sully - love the tough queen. Sully was an amazing Wyvern Lord, and Kjelle went to Paladin, such a major vanguard duo.
Frederick / Sumia - no kids??? weird, but Fred was weak by the end of my game.
Tharja / Gaius - Noire was a funny kid, made her an archer.
Miriel / Vaike - No kids?? Great couple though.
Powered to the finish, and a couple died in the final battle (GREGOR!!!!). However, the end stories weren't satisfying, unlike finally finishing a Fire Emblem game. WAHOO!
Why didn't you quote any of the other people who mentioned Nowi?
Because nobody else decided to make the two young children fuck each other?
Anna. Because yeah.

I did a spit take at this. Fuck you VGK

Isn't marrying her to Gregor or having the avatar marry her creepier, like some people in this thread say they've done? Isn't the whole "choosing who marries who" thing kinda fucking creepy in the first place, no matter which pair you're talking about? There's no evidence that they're fucking right then and there? I thought pedophilia was when an adult was attracted to a kid, not two kids attracted to each other?
That last question is entirely rhetorical, partly because it's completely off topic for this thread, and partly because it's a conversation that I really, really don't want to have. It needs to be asked, but not answered aloud.
Also, I wish you would have responded to my entire post instead of just picking out one sentence.

That's better. If I say something and you respond to it, take the whole context.

You've seen my threads, right? It'swhatIdo.
On that note, I feel I should get a 3DS Capture Card so I can replay Fire Emblem Awakening and screenshot the fuck out of it.
Cherche because I love redheads, and Sumia had the role of falcon knight taken care of before Cordelia appeared. Turns out, Cherche's support series is fantastic.
Chrom. The support line was kind of lame in just being wacky peeping hijinks, but the story stuff with it afterwards was pretty cool.
I really enjoyed pairing Stahl/Olivia, Gaius/Sumia, and Vaike/Panne, though.
@benny: @slay3r1583:To add to what others have told you about missing out on characters by opting not to marry your units, child units are also pretty easy to make into your most powerful units. Their base stats are some kind of percentage based on the stats of their parents, so as long as you don't have an unpromoted unit marry at level 10, the child unit will be ridiculously powerful. Child units also inherit the last skill on their father's skill list, which can grant certain classes skills they couldn't otherwise obtain, or at least not without changing to a completely different class using an item. If you want to avoid marriage, there are still several strong units to play as, and the ability to change to a different base class and rise through the ranks again probably closes the gap between the different generations.
Slayer, since it seems like you might be confused, Morgan is the child of the tactician, regardless of who the other parent is. Though I'm not sure if you were just mentioning that pair because it means having a child unit with the extra boost to stats from another child unit. Regardless, Morgan was one of my most powerful units too (and my sweetie pie). What class did you make him/herr?
@believer258: I had Ricken marry Panne because his barracks description says he's the best with animals.
@believer258: I had Nowi marry Gregor because they're the two oldest party members.

Thats racist.
