Just listened to the first one, really good stuff, I really want to go back and listen to the old ones.
The best of the Giant Bombcast, 2012 (8 hours MP3)
I can safely say that these are amazingly done wrap ups done by this duder. There used to be a ton for the old 1Up podcasts of yester-year and they were all well put together. I will download and relisten. 8 hours of bombcast incoming... Choooo Chooo... [awww, I miss NDX... :( ]
I recognize the first two but what episode did they talk T-Rex vs Bears? Cause that sounds great.Do you think there is a chance of a best of giantbomb's completely stupid conversations over the years? Like "space pizza balls", "the cat and dog with special powers" and "T-rex vs bears" for example. That would be so funny!

That's a real old one from 09.
It's where this came from:
Vinnys story of turning on Comedy Central for something and Tosh.0 playing reminded me of when I was turning on Comedy Central and the end of Tosh.0 was playing and Tosh was making jokes at a clip of a naked pornstar on the floor that just had semen blasted into her mouth, throwing up on the ground crying "I'm sorry, I'm pregnant". This happened when my family was in the room and it was like 7:30 at night, I couldn't believe what I was seeing was on TV, I just wanted to watch some damn Blues Brothers...
Thanks for all the kudos guys and, most importantly, thanks for listening!

That's a neat idea. Not to tease, but I have something even dumber planned for a special Giant Bomb best-of, but I don't know if it'll come together, so I won't say anything else.

Great work on this. Loved the Jeff "wah" part. Awesome.
Thanks! That was composed by user @PollySMPS, so full credit goes to them.
Oh, right. I forgot about this ridiculous part where they defend the whole Fighting Game Community "Rape that bitch!" bullshit.

... huh?
I must have missed that part. Because they definitely didn't defend it.
Just listened to the early Hot Spot best of podcast, so funny hearing all this optimism for The Transformers movie coming.

Same with GI Joe from them. They can't help themselves. Everything that gets made like that now has to have too much 'tude to be fun like it was originally.
4 hours down.
4 hours to go.
I've listened to these for every year and by far - 2012 is the best.
I don't believe it's due to the content, but how you present it. I like the fact that there aren't as many breaks as ones before this, and using the Gerstwah as the break music was pretty spot on - had me grinning ear to ear like an idiot on the train this morning.

I've definitely gotten a lot better at editing these things together. The goal is to make it sound like everything comes from the same episode, like it's one super long Bombcast. There are certain factors that conspire against that -- Jeff mixes the shows differently than Ryan, so the few episodes he does sound a lot different to the regular shows, and the shows in the new studio sound different to those recorded in the old offices.
I don't know if people notice that stuff, but it's something that I notice when I'm editing it all together. I can do some patch up work in Audacity, like doing noise removal to cut out the sound of the air conditioner (remember when there was a constant hum in the background in the late 2011/early 2012 shows?), and I run everything through a levelling filter to make it all sound like it's the same volume, but I can't do much more than that.
I'm glad that you've noticed that, though! I've also gotten better at matching discussions together thematically, so that contributes quite a bit to it as well.
Half way started and it's been all glorious! Another set of thanks from this GB fan.
Loving the choice of starting off with Vinny's return as a father. Very appropriate for the start.
Also remember a segment where Brad is commenting on wondering how good the end of Mass Effect 3 will be for him. Well, guess we know now.
I'm just posting so I can find this thread later. This is good stuff to go along with playing Mass Effect multiplayer.
This and thunderf00t videos.
Hey, my "Ryan bought Pro Wrestling" email made the cut. Rochester MI getting two emails in there, the other one being the legendary bat vs knife email. Fucking represent.
Patrick's "Happy Birthday" during the Subway email may be the funniest thing I've heard on the podcast all year, I'm not even sure why.
I love these podcasts. Looking over the upcoming release schedule it seems like there isn't anything for me this year though. Maybe Listen Up but I don't think that podcast has aged well. It was the beginning of the end for 1UP podcasts. It'd be nice to see a MBMBaM or Tested podcast at some point.

We've only released half the year's schedule so far. I know there are some people who only listen to gaming podcasts, and that's cool, but if you're looking for some extra stuff to check out I really recommend this Loveline best-of, and this Uhh Yeah Dude best-of. You'll enjoy them, I'm sure.

@ZanzibarBreeze: I just checked out your UYD - This Year. Was damn good, I used it as a way to introduce uyd to my friend. Was wondering if there was any plans for some more?
Definitely -- I've just started working on a best-of for their first year, 2006. (Six best-ofs to go until we catch up to 2013!)
I was excited to lead with the discussion of orderlies abusing Alzheimer's patients for that best-of. "Excited" is a really bad word to use there but I can't think of another way to phrase it. Seth's rant there is a legendary podcast moment for me, and hands-down one of my top moments from 2012.
I guess I'm an asshole because I want to let my kid go play soccer and I have a presumption he's not gonna get FUCKED at practice. By the coach. Yeah, I'm crazy. Oh, I'm an asshole. 'That parent, he's a real helicopter parent!' Yeah! I fucking am!
It's great.
