Hey guys

I'm experiencing problems with getting RSS feeds over HTTPS when using the Overcast podcast app, and juding by the last couple of messages in this post, I'm not the only one:

http://www.giantbomb.com/forums/bombcast-32/adding-premium-podcast-feed-onto-overcast-podcast--1493652/?page=2

I had it working fine a week or two ago.

When trying to add the URL, Overcast just says that it "could not find a podcast feed at this URL". If i remove the s from https it adds the feed, no problem.

I've got the problem for both premium and non-premium (without user:pass@ before the address) feeds. I'm just making a wild guess here, but could it be related to this post in any way?

I just tested in PodWrangler, and it works fine there.

Thanks!

@hologram: Looking into this. It *might* be related to iOS update, testing.

@jslack: Awesome, thanks!

I'm currently on iOS 9.0.2. Let me know if I can somehow help with testing.

So here's an update:

Marco (the developer of Overcast) told me that the manual feed adding w/ authentication has never really been officially supported, but he'd take a look on his side.

The only change we made on our side, was updating our required TLS versions for use with our secure authentication. There's a chance the app is doing their own authentication on their side - I'm still researching this.

Alternatively, there's a chance iOS 9 might have changed feed behavior slightly, but it's hard to test without an old version of Overcast.

Anyway, I'll update this again with more findings.

@jslack: I'm getting the same problem (I think) just using iTunes on a PC. It's only with premium podcast feeds, though (beastcast premium, bombcast premium, giantbomb premium podcasts). I type the link in like this -

https://username:password@www.giantbomb.com/podcast-xml/premiumbombcast/

There are no episodes under "unplayed" tab or "feed" tab. It just acts like the link isn't valid. This has been the case for about one or two weeks now.

For what it's worth it seems to be working for me judging by a quick look at my iPad. Alt F1 was pulled properly yesterday and, after quickly deleting it, I found I was able to stream it from the cloud.

I hope Marco officially supports this at some point. No matter how odd it'll be to manage, it's got to be better than everyone doing on the sly.

@themasterds: Odd, I'm still not getting anything. Already added feeds don't refresh, and I can't add new ones either.

@jslack: Thanks for the update!

For what it's worth: I updated my ipad to 9.1. Iphone is still on 9.0.2. Neither works so far.

@jslack: Are there any news on this?

Should I maybe try and take this to the Overcast guys instead?
