So Jaffe just posted this to twitter. I found it interesting since the majority of the comments are from Giantbomb and some from Polygon.
It ends with #GoFuckYourself, which I guess isn't very surprising.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Ha.
I generally like David Jaffe, more than most it would seem from all the comments I've read about him lately, but this seems a tad... defensive. I guess he's at least trying to put a unique spin on it by using a character of his to act as his cipher... Still, comon Jaffe. I would have hoped he'd be someone who doesn't take such comments to heart.
And for the record I am not at all interested in Drawn to Death.
Some of those comments were pretty clever, the Playstation Youtube video where people Shit all over what looks to be an underwhelming game would have been a much better choice for "shocking" comments.
But even in the bowels of Youtube comments I found stuff like:
"How about making players actually draw their own characters, weapons, and maps?
I would have really liked to see the next generation games to the next generation experience."
That would have been way cooler. Also if someone is gonna ask "How would you draw on a controller" may I point to the Call of Duty emblem tools and the Forza car design tools.
surprised that commenters in the last podcast thread aren't happy that GB stuck to their honest opinion regardless of jaffe being a friend of the site. i thought you guys were all about journalistic integrity!
That would have been way cooler. Also if someone is gonna ask "How would you draw on a controller" may I point to the Call of Duty emblem tools and the Forza car design tools.
There's also a touchpad on the controller or they could have an app that lets you draw stuff on your phone and then export it to the game.
I am almost ashamed to say it, but I wish I'd said something crueler so that Jaffe could call me out, too. Where's my 15 seconds of fame?

Sounds super cool sign me up!
When I read the comments, I thought that the video was going to be voiced, and each comment would get its own overly-defensive scathing remark. Instead, it's just a compilation of lazy internet snark, and it's capped off with a pretty appropriately disinterested hashtag.
Seems like Jaffe and the team found some low-effort comments and had a touch of fun with them. Not a big deal on either side.
Well that was a silly video

y'all just called out by David Jaffe. Guess you are famous now.
Go fuck yourself is a pretty strong response to those pretty tame comments. I like David Jaffe, he seems honest and doesn't seem to filter himself and makes rad games. But I hope he handled criticism of this game during the PSX post-demo interview things better than this.
Hah! That's pretty funny. Mostly it's just funny to see people from here in a silly trailer/video/thing. The actual "go fuck yourself" response seems weirdly defensive, especially considering the comments they chose.
Game still looks ugly though. Maybe when it leaves pre-alphabetagaga, or whatever fuckin state it's in, it'll look more interesting (not to mention more readable). But right now I ain't feelin it.
Ah, following the John Romero school of video game advertising, I see. I hope that works out for them.

I was thinking the same thing. David Jaffe just made us his bitch.
The comments they chose seemed super tame. A guy reading them while his hand tattoo is z-fighting with his skin and to follow it up with the gameplay-equivalent of garbage disposal refuse doesn't really make for a good rebuttal.
I genuinely like Jaffe and everything, but I didn't get the video. I didn't find it particularly funny or clever or "edgy" or...well...anything really. It was just kinda weak. Meh, whatever, Hope the game turns out well. That would honestly be the biggest and best "#gofuckyourself" right there.
There's the trademark "wit" and "charisma" that's formed and fueled my personal opinion of David Jaffe for the last 15 or so years.
It's not a very positive opinion.
If we can dish criticism, we should be able to take it being thrown back at us.
Jaffe is a fine fellow. He can take a joke and/or criticism. Oh, he might not take it well or like an adult sometimes; but he can take it.
I'm not into his game, but so what, he ain't makin it for me. If Jaffe is going to do anything he might as well do what he wants.
You guys sure are interesting. It may just be me but if I were a guy who just went through the effort of making a video game and someone said "Who keeps letting Karkarov make games?" to me I would be kinda offended. I just went through the effort of making an actual product and some random internet schmo just basically said I shouldn't have been allowed to in the first place and writes off all my work as wasted money by an investor who must be an idiot? Yeah, go fuck yourself is probably pretty close to how I would feel about it.
Though in all honesty being forced to look at Pewdiepie's face in the "around the web" spam while I post this is far more offensive than anything anyone said about the game or the hash tag itself.
This is approximately the most David Jaffe response to criticism of David Jaffe's new game. Know what? Still not interested.
This is some Dennis Dyack shit right here.
I didn't like the look of Jaffe's game. I never said anything bad about him. I never said anyone shouldn't buy it. I never insulted him. I said I didn't like it. Is he going to send Christmas cards to the bombcast crew telling them to go fuck themselves because they shat on it in the podcast?
Like, he's trying to win fans with shitting on message board posters. How is that actions an adult in charge of a studio takes and thinks "Yeah, this is good marketing for my game. This will really win people over. This is a good way to represent myself." If this was an off the cuff comment, then sure. Whatever. You don't like my game, then the "fuck off I don't care about you" stance is perfectly fine to keep your sanity when you're making a game, if a little blind.
But to put this in a video advertising your game? To link your game with being just a dick to people on message boards?
It's absurd, baffling behaviour that reminds me of a child.
I stand by my statement, by the way. Splatoon is a game that has an interesting cartoon art style, has new ideas within the genre, and generally looks like a fun game.
Drawn to Death looks like the same old shit with an art style that is hard to look at and has a premise that is somehow more juvenile, more childish than a game about squidkids jumping around in puddles with supersoakers.
Haha that was pretty great. This continues to be a day one buy for me.
Does this mean that David Jaffe likes coming to Giantbomb?
Yup. He could have picked IGN or Neogaf or something but he picked Giant Bomb. Y'all should be honored.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

Yes, but would you create a video calling those naysayers out by (user)name, literallytell them to go fuck themselves, and then post that video to YouTube?
That video would have been funny if it was funny.
Yeah it was awkward.
