i get why there putting one out every year. AC is one of ubisofts only reliable moneymakers NOT aimed at socer moms but maybe that's because its the only game they actually release anymore. And all milking it is going to do is kill the series like guitar hero and tony hawk.

Another 'Big Assassin's Creed game' confirmed for 2011
Hopefully AC3. Assassins Creed is pretty much the only game I buy from Ubisoft these days so you are probably right about it being the only moneymaker they have. I just hope they actually end the series as a trilogy as announced when the first game came out rather than grind it into worthlessness
I do love stabbing dudes in the face though.
" Assassin's Creed Franchise. Prince of Persia Franchise. Ghost Recon Franchise. Splinter Cell Franchise. Rainbow Six Franchise. Raving Rabbids! Ubisoft are probably on of my favourite developers. "Prince of Persia is ruined due to them. Ghost recon is has not been out in around 2 or 3 years and new one looks to different from originals. Slinter cell is not an action game. Rainbow six is now a third person shooter not a game about tactics.
Less time until more face/neck stabbing is fine by me. I'd just hope it's not another Ezio game and there is animus stuff in it.
No way they could deliver a as high-quality release in 1 year's time. Probably just another PSP/DS game that slightly advances the plot.
Although they DO, use the same animations and only add a few moves/weapons from time to time, they do spend much more time researching and building the city.
It should be a lot easier to keep AC fresh though. There's a near limitless supply of rich and interesting history for them to use. Even if the mechanics remain largely the same, a game set in Victorian England will feel very different to a game set during the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire (a scenario which was practically handwritten for being an AC game), or during the Raj in India, etc. etc.

" I'm all for it as long as they know when to pull the plug. "That. We can't have Ubisoft pulling a Tony Hawk on Assassin's Creed. But that's probably what they'll do seeming there's like 20 games for each of there other franchises.
" @armaan8014 said:I'm with you there - I completed AC2 just like a month before AC: B was released. As long as it is filled with more Subject 16 and crazy backstory stuff, I'm all for it. I need to get Brotherhood.
Is Assassin's Creed on the PSP worth getting? Does it have more backstory stuff you can't get on the console releases?
I love the universe of Assassin's Creed, if you can't tell.
i love Assassin's Creed but I DONT WANT AC3 ANYTIME BEFORE 2012
give it a rest like you promised, ubisoft !
" @Jeust said:Yeah, and I haven't even finished AC2. I stopped playing the game when I started getting the dejá-vu feeling, as I had played the first game to death. Although I find it a little sad the fact that I'll maybe never see the end of the overall story." @armaan8014 said:I'm with you there - I completed AC2 just like a month before AC: B was released. AC3 has been announced for 2012. And as long as it takes place in some sort of time period, I'm all for it.

Assassin's Creed Franchise - Going to lose it's magic if they make it into an every year release." Assassin's Creed Franchise. Prince of Persia Franchise. Ghost Recon Franchise. Splinter Cell Franchise. Rainbow Six Franchise. Raving Rabbids! Ubisoft are probably on of my favourite developers. "
Prince of Persia Franchise - It could be good if Ubisoft can make up their damn minds what they want out of this franchise
Ghost Recon Franchise - About the only thing remaining from Ubisoft that I care about, I just hope they won't fuck this one up. The E3 demo looked good but some things looked dumbed down.
Splinter Cell Franchise - I am not gonna even start how Convictions was the least Splinter Cell game in the series. IMO Convictions was a step back for the series.
Rainbow Six Franchise - Vegas was good but the second one wasn't what I expected it to be.
Raving Rabbids - never played any of them. I am thinking about getting it though.
To summon. Ubisoft were one of my favorite Publisher/Developers but in the last three years they are showing signs of losing their ways.

If you release a new AC game every year it will lose the magic of the game. Ubisoft needs to finish this trilogy then if they want start milking it.

On a profitability scale (1 being the best and 6 the worst):
1. Assassin's Creed franchise.
2. Rainbow Six franchise.
3. Splinter Cell franchise.
4. Ghost Recon franchise.
5. Raving Rabbids franchise.
6. Prince of Persia franchise.
Unless it's AC3 having been in development since AC2 alongside Brotherhood, then no fucking thanks Ubisoft. You won me over with 2 (1 was a nightmare of boredom and repetition) and I'm playing Brotherhood now, directly after finishing 2. When I finish Brotherhood, I'm not going to want as much as to even hear the words Assassin's Creed for at least two years.
" @TaliciaDragonsong said:Details, details!" Pulling a L4D2? Well, so far they didn't disappoint yet. Bring it on. "Well they already 'pulled a L4D2' with Brotherhood in the first place. "
As long as it's good I'm fine with it.
Maybe it's a little fast paced but hey, if I'm burnt out on it, I'll just wait a while to play it (crazy I know).
(...also I'm inclined to agree with the PSP and 3DS ideas - or maybe... iPhone?)
" As long as its a new city and they get rid of that dumbass assisin costume Im game. "This. The outfit looks badass and all, but I'm really starting to wish I could play as a regularly dressed Ezio, it would feel a lot less clunky.

Or was that just me?
" @Abyssfull said:I mean more for it only being released a year after one of its big hit additions to the franchise. I'm sure 'pulling a L4D2' can all come down to perspective in the grand scheme of things, much like your own interpretation ;P" @TaliciaDragonsong said:Just curious, when we say "pull a L4D2" do we mean: It gets announced, everyone thinks it's bullshit, and then the game comes out and is awesome and most people forget about how bullshitty it seemed when it was announced? " @ryanwho said:I don't normally throw out buzzwords like immersion, but when your assassin dresses in the most obvious costume in town it kind of kills the illusion that this guy could blend in with anything." " 1 was a nightmare of boredom and repetition "i dont get how some people could focus on the repetition and be put off by it. i was so overwhelmed with the game's atmosphere and mechanics and visuals and protagonist that i couldnt have noticed the repetition on my first play through even if you pointed it out for me. (played the game day and night, used to wake up at 4 a.m. to be able to walk in Altair's shoes for a couple of hours before school.. and i was 17-18 back then, not a kid).
i guess what im saying here is, it sucks for some people that they didnt get the childish joy i got from a new smashing and breathtaking IP when it came out, but rather took a critical approach and missed out on the experience and big picture.
Cool.
Short development time doesn't have to equal a bad game. A lot of the first game's development time was spent making the engine, and a lot of the second's development time was spent fixing the first game's plethora of mechanical and structural problems -- now that they've got an engine and a damn solid formula, I don't see why they'd need more than one year for each installment.
I'm not saying they should keep making one a year forever, obviously, but until the formula starts feeling old and/or another game raises the bar for open-world action-platformers, all each new installment needs is a fresh setting and a couple of minor mechanical additions and refinements.
" @armaan8014 said:Ditto. I'm actually having issue playing Brotherhood right now because AC2 wasn't that long ago." @Kjellm87 said:I guess i'll be playing Brotherhood when this one hits the stores. lol I need a cooldown period, as as high quality as AC games are, they are painfully repetitive. " And so it begins... "It's Ubisoft. They're just as bad at running franchises into the ground as EA or Activison but never really get the rep for it.
I say give ppl what they want. Assassin's creed brotherhood turned out to be one of my favorite games and if they can continue that tradition, they should continue. I didn't want to wait a few years to find out what happens next with their cliffhangers.
"But the thing is... if this continues, we're be hopping from cliffhanger to cliffhanger till the series hits such a low point where there is no point in releasing another game, and so it ends Assassin's Creed.I say give ppl what they want.
