Since Starcraft II released and everyone says that game's soundtrack is golden I would like to know what other good game soundtracks there are.
And, Red Dead Redemption is the soundtrack I enjoy alot.
Best Game Soundtracks
Chrono Trigger & Donkey Kong Country 2.
There's been a few of these topics already (one that I remember quite recently too) but whatever.
" @AjayRaz said:agreed with both. Rez has a truly amazing soundtrack-- especially the last stage's version of Mind Killer" Shatter. "I agree with this. The Rez soundtrack is really good too, and I quite like the Mirror's Edge soundtrack for a bit of ambient downtempo style music. "
Okami, Super Mario Galaxy, Mickey's Wild Adventure, Prince of Persia (2008), Odin Sphere, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Duck Tales, Bayonetta, Mega Man (every single one), Castlevania (every single one), Pokemon (every single one) and Zelda (every single one) all have really good soundtracks.
These are some of my most recent favorites, except for Albert Odyssey, that's an old Saturn RPG from working designs (RIP).
Final Fantasy XIII, Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time, Resonance of Fate, Albert Odyssey: The legend of Eldean
As much hate that FFXIII received I must say that the soundtrack is absolutely brilliant, same with Resonance of Fate.
The Red Dead soundtrack really is awesome,Bioshock has great music in it.I also like the music in SSF4,NFS Underground 1 and 2 and it's already been said but every GTA game has great music
Metal Gear Solid series (Snake Eater= greatest song ever)
Skies of Arcadia
Deus Ex
System Shock 2
Persona 3
Nocturne
Golden Sun
this thread AGAIN ?
the first 30 times are tolerable, but after that it gets repetitive dont you think ?
I love the original Ratchet and Clank soundtrack, it's quality music that perfectly captured the playful sci-fi atmosphere of the game; Persona 4, but I definitely have some Endurance Run nostalgia bias; Ico and Shadow of the Collosus have gorgeous and really unique compositions.
Mate, your Shepard looks like Criton off Red Dwarf...jus sayin...it made me laugh.
Shenmue for me, quality soundtrack. Oh and Streets of Rage 2.
My favorite ever is Metal Gear Solid 3, followed by BioShock. After that, strong ones include (I guess in chronological groupings?) Super Mario Bros. 1 & 3, Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda, Super Metroid, Sonic The Hedgehog 1-3 + Knuckles, Ristar, Kirby SuperStar, Donkey Kong Country, Earthbound, Sonic 3D Blast, Final Fantasy VII, Super Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie & Tooie, Super Mario Sunshine, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, 007: Nightfire, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Halo (full franchise), Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Star Wars: Jedi Outcast, Conker: Live and Reloaded, God of War (full franchise), Resident Evil 4, Dead Rising, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2), Mario & Luigi (franchise), Warcraft III, Portal, Team Fortress 2, Braid, Fallout 3, Assassin's Creed II, Uncharted 2, Left 4 Dead (2), Bayonetta, Red Dead Redemption, and Super Mario Galaxy 2.
I haven't played a game made since then.
Oh, and also pretty much every Guitar Hero/Rock Band title they've made so far (with the exclusion of the TERRIBLE GH: Aerosmith and GH: VH) and Dance Dance Revolution Extreme (with Long Train Runnin', La Bamba, etc.)
Super mario bros 3. I hum the music from it often.
More recently though Bioshock 1/2 especially when you enter rapture in the first game or whenever you have to fight the Big Sister in the second.
I thought Silent Hill 4 had the best soundtrack of the series. It wasn't the best anything else of the series, but the soundtrack was amazing. Akira Yamaoka did good.
Audiosurf.
But being serious on the internet here for a second.
Mass Effect 2, one of the Halo games (no idea what game it was) and many of the Final Fantasy games.
Also, almost anything Jesper Kyd has had his hands on.
" I thought Silent Hill 4 had the best soundtrack of the series. It wasn't the best anything else of the series, but the soundtrack was amazing. Akira Yamaoka did good. "I have to totally disagree on this one...Silent Hill 2 OST is definately the best in the series. It has the most memorial songs with any of the Laura's themes songs and betrayal and black fairy having to do with the last fight with pyramid head.
Other than that my favorite OSTs at the moment are:
Chrono Cross: The OST of this has a wide range of instrumentals starting from the island themed music to a more orchestrated feel then changing it up with some guitar pieces.
Final Fantasy Tactics: Best soundtrack with a Celtic feel that you rarely hear in any other games that makes this LONG game very enjoyable to listen too.
Metal Gear Solid 4: This one I just started listening to after I beat this EPIC game. I only usually stick the RPG soundtracks because they are usually pretty well written but I have been having trouble changing my ipod to something else lately XD
Some others: Xenosaga series, Tales of Destiny, Star Ocean 3, Chrono Trigger, All Final Fantasys( Except 13),Resident Evil 2
As for the best...No damn clue=p
" Metal Gear without doubt, and if you're considering licenesed tracks the GTA games have all been fantastic at encapuslating the respective periods they've been set in through the soundtrack, especially Vice City for me personnaly. "Yup I gotta agree with ya.... I might even throw Madden & Gran Turismo's in there too
I would posit that Final Fantasy X has the best soundtrack of that franchise, though doubtless many would disagree with me. Also, Shatter, as has been mentioned.
" @HitmanAgent47: Oh and Streets of Rage 2. "FINALLY. Its about some one acknowledges the best OST of all time.
