Hey folks, just thought I'd pass on this awesome deal.

The Greatest Video Game Music, performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra is on sale for $3 today at Amazon.

I just got done listening to it, and it's fantastic. Yes, there are some omissions (no Shadow of the Colossus or Mega Man, to name a couple), but what's there is extremely well done. Even Angry Birds. Seriously, the Angry Birds theme is on there, and it's shockingly good.

Go buy it! Support them and who knows, maybe we'll get more!

Was planning to pick up the CD (and still am) but this is perfect timing since I have $1 in credit I can use for this, so consider it purchased.

Wow thanks for the heads up. The track list is awesome, especially that GTA IV one. Now excuse me while I drown myself in BF2 theme.
 
Also I get a chuckle out of the Call of Duty 4 main menu theme.

Is there Fire Emblem on there? Or Tactics Ogre? Or Mystic Ark? Or Fragile Dreams? Or anything else that I'm just naming from my Soundtracks to Review To list?

Good stuff in there, but fuck why have Angry Birds and Advent Rising when you don't have the Monkey Island theme? That's what I say.

It's not the greatest video game music if this isn't there.

@XII_Sniper: I feel the same way, but that Angry Birds theme took me by surprise. As did the Mario theme. By now I thought I'd heard just about every way that could be done, but it was a pleasant arrangement. Almost holiday-like.

There's some decent choices on there. I bought it.

Anyone else think it is funny that Advent Rising is the 1st track on the CD?

Also, probably just me but some Kingdom Hearts music would have been cool to be on there. Maybe Dearly Beloved (Main Menu theme)

Yeah lots of REALLY questionable choices on there. Lots of GOOD music for sure. Nothing on there sounds bad in any way, but calling it the "Greatest" is pretty wrong.

This entire pack smacks of, "Hey gamers like music too right? Let's throw game music on a CD and get paid!" syndrome. Very broad swath of games represented, lots of different types of games, no unifying theme other than being from something pretty popular.

You can't please everyone with any "best of" list, but this isn't even an attempt. They just chose a bunch of good music from good games and called it greatest hits list. As long as you know that's what you're getting going in, this seems fine. Definitely some good tracks though. Love that Uncharted Theme, but I don't think it would rank on the greatest video games music ever.

@TepidShark: Oooh, yeah the Kingdom Hearts theme would have been nice. Love that piano tune.

Going back to 3rd Strike arcade soundtrack...

The greatest video game soundtracks are from releases in the last five years.

I listened to some of the previews, some of the versions are not that good.
Id recommend a preview before you buy.

its a pr deal to get people more interested in Classical Music that said Zelda, Super Mario Brothers, and Tetris very good pieces I bought the album for them.

Fuck Mega Man, WE GOT ANGRY BIRDS!
