or unproductive
i do but its very unproductive hobby i spend many hours playing them lol others hobbys get like sport get u fit and leaning to play something us more usefull . but wot thew hay is its fun
Do you think gameing is a hobby
" i do but its very unproductive hobby i spend many hours playing them lol "Jog while you play, now it is productive.
Yeah of course it's a hobby but there isn't really any self improvement that comes from it. I guess you get sharpened reflexes and finger dexterity maybe but those aren't very useful skills.
You should buy Rockband 3 and the proper guitar controller that way you'll be able to learn a useful skill while you game.
Clearly they aren't teaching you any grammar." or unproductive i do but its very unproductive hobby i spend many hours playing them lol others hobbys get like sport get u fit and leaning to play something us more usefull . but wot thew hay is its fun "
As far as if they are or are not productive, that depends on what types you play. If all you play is mindless twitch action games then yes your not really doing much, but playing say puzzle games, or games with alot of tactics (rts's for example) or anything that generally requires alot of thought is good for your brain. Games with open worlds or simply any that require alot of memorization help you get better at things like navigation and remembering where things are.
None of these things give you any specific skills per se but they do help improve your ability to do certain tasks.
Way I see it films and tv do nothing for you but games do so anyone who says 'games are a waste of time' is an idiot because chances are they spend an incredibly large amount of time watching tv and film, which is vastly less productive than gaming.
gaming is the most wasteful, counter-productive hobby imaginable and you're delusional if you believe otherwise.
I think of it as a religion thank you
" I think of it as a religion thank you "That's the shit. Well, that and Tom Sawyer.
You can learn a lot playing video games. It all depends how you choose to play them. In MMOs for example you can really learn how to be a friendly social gamer. In a lot of games you can learn how to better organize things which has carried over into real life for me very well. But most important of all, you learn how to play and have fun! That is an essential component to being alive and without it we would suffer that much more.
The myth that playing video games is unproductive is just that.. a myth. That being said, its very easy to get addicted to video games for some, and thats where the unproductivity factor kicks in, as with any addiction.
It's a hobby till I spend around $1000 on plastic crap, then its a god damn EXPENSIVE hobby.
As an added plus, people think you're crazy and obsessed.
At least that's what they tell me.

Game in moderation and you will enjoy video games much, much more than the those who game in addiction.
masturbation is fun too, but I don't try to justify it by telling people it improves my hand dexterity or that its helped me develop an acute sense of hearing to detect when my mom comes home early from work. just saiyan.
You can play video games and still be a "productive member of society". Some people apparently think that if you aren't being productive every single second of your life you are a waste.
Sure, it's a hobby and an unproductive ones but so are a lot of others. There are crossword puzzle fanatics who even hold competitions (see Wordplay) and there are people who build ships in bottles, collect velvet paintings, fish for sport (meaning they toss back their catch), and all other sorts of things. Look at sky diving. Do you know how much people spend on that hobby? And for what? Fifteen seconds of freefall? I wouldn't worry too much about it. Chances are you've got school or work to fill up all your productivity hours. Why can't anything just be for fun?
Is watching TV a hobby? Is listening to music a hobby?
I'd say no to both of the above and as such I'd also say that gaming isn't a hobby.
gaming is like golf.
to those that love it it's more than just a hobby. it's part of your life. it's what you think about during the day. it's what you dream about at night. you're always looking for ways to better yourself at it and your best times are doing it with your friends.
outsiders see it as intimidating, boring, unproductive and an escapist hobby.

"This is probably the best explanation.
Depends on the game really.
Shooting mindlessly - unproductive
Tactic based games and where it requires you to actually use that brain in your head - productive
" I call it a way of life "Same here, it's good stuff, and keeps wacko's like me of the street innit?
Gaming is a lot of things, and for once it is research too." I consider it research!! Video games train your hand/eye coordination, & force you to problem solve more rapidly. Games make you smarter. "
It also makes you imagine things more vividly, things that can help you in various degrees in your life, from your occupation to other fields.
No single experience is non-productive. They at least make you learn from experience.
But as a hobby, it hardly will make you money, develop socially or evolve your physical condition. Although its casual side can give you a good workout.
I equate gaming to watching movies, browsing the internet, or watching TV. I don't watch TV at all, but I play video games. I consider them pretty even. Sure, it is a hobby, but it's like model making or something. Instead of assembling a model I am building up my gamerscore or watching a bunch of little stories unfold in front of me.
People who make fun of video games but then talk about the 5-6 TV shows they never miss on TV make me laugh. But that is me. I'm pretty lazy, but at least I admit it.

I don't understand how people could think that watching TV for 3 hours is so much better than playing video games for 3 hours. At least with (most) video games I actually have to use my brain, as opposed to (most) TV where you just sit there with your eyes open.
