How are these the only options? I sometimes wear headphones depending on the game, the time of night and the people around me.

Nah I don't know why but after a while headphones just start killing my ears, I have an awesome pair of surround sound headphones and still after 20-30mins my ears start aching ever so slightly, plus I just don't like the feeling of something on my head while I game (I always put my headset on when I play 360 games than remember that I barely talk unless a friend is on so I just toss em off) so only when I have to wear a headset for Vent.

Sometimes. Depends on which room I'm in and whether or not I'm sitting in the focal point. If I'm sitting on my bed, then yes always. If I'm at my desk, I usually use speakers for the sake of my bass chair. If in the living room, it depends on the game and who else is in the house.

@Evilsbane: Sounds like an equalization issue, if the headphones are of a decent quality (the "surround-sound" part makes me wonder). I know I get listening fatigue if I have certain frequencies turned up too loud. But with a little tweaking, I can use mine for hours and hours on end.

I won't give an answer to this poll as I am not aligned with any of the answers.

As others already stated, it is more of a case-by-case basis for myself.  Sometimes I may play a game on the laptop, and decide to use headphones to block out external noise.  Other times, I am on my desktop and preferably use the speakers with subwoofer to immerse myself in the game with quality sound.

I would've voted for "only at nighttime".

@Evilsbane: That happens to me too.  Since I usually use headphones when I'm playing at night, I use it as a reminder to go to bed.

if it's late I will, but only for PC games. Don't want to wake up the neighbours.

Always for PC/360 games. I live with people who, for some reason I can't manage to comprehend, don't like the sound of bullets colliding with flesh and the subsequent death screams.

In all seriousness, my family is easily bothered by my games, so I always use a nice pair of headphones.

@buzz_clik: I guess I should have changed the topic to "Would you use a pair of headphones..." instead of "Do you...".  It's more a question of of would you ever you use headphones for console games, but I can understand your situation completely.  Shall I make a new poll?  Other options included would be (Only at night) and (Sometimes), unless there's a better suite of options.

I was using headphones for both PC and consoles until my cats decided to bite the wire off. Now I'm just using some shitty iPod earphones for the computer because I'm too poor to pick up a new headset.

I hate cats.

Not unless I'm on voice coms.  Which I just about never do for console, and haven't done in quite a while for PC.

Use them for my DS/PSP, and everything with audio on my PC, but never when playing on a TV.

Not the inside of my ear, like literally my Ears ( The Fleshy lump connected to the side of my head) that would suck if it hurt the inside....

I like my games loud and I don't want to bother the neighbors, so yeah. I have some really good headphones, so I actually prefer using them, as the quality of the sound is better with them than without.

I would if I had the ability to plug my high-spec headphones into my TV.

I do for PC games. I think that's what made F.E.A.R. on the PC so creepy for me

Sometimes, especially when playing Horror games or PSP games.

The DS doesn't sound that great with headphones on.

Depends on the game but I generally wear head phones playing PC games so I picked that one.
Not sure why that's looped in with portables but whatever

Always. I've got a pair of Astro A40's and they're absolutely superb. Even if I went out and bought a $1000 5.1/7.1, I'd never be able to have it loud enough to enjoy the games I was playing without upsetting the neighbors, thus, the headphones.
