How are these the only options? I sometimes wear headphones depending on the game, the time of night and the people around me.
Do you use headphones while you play games?
Nah I don't know why but after a while headphones just start killing my ears, I have an awesome pair of surround sound headphones and still after 20-30mins my ears start aching ever so slightly, plus I just don't like the feeling of something on my head while I game (I always put my headset on when I play 360 games than remember that I barely talk unless a friend is on so I just toss em off) so only when I have to wear a headset for Vent.
Sometimes. Depends on which room I'm in and whether or not I'm sitting in the focal point. If I'm sitting on my bed, then yes always. If I'm at my desk, I usually use speakers for the sake of my bass chair. If in the living room, it depends on the game and who else is in the house.
@Evilsbane: Sounds like an equalization issue, if the headphones are of a decent quality (the "surround-sound" part makes me wonder). I know I get listening fatigue if I have certain frequencies turned up too loud. But with a little tweaking, I can use mine for hours and hours on end.
I won't give an answer to this poll as I am not aligned with any of the answers.
As others already stated, it is more of a case-by-case basis for myself. Sometimes I may play a game on the laptop, and decide to use headphones to block out external noise. Other times, I am on my desktop and preferably use the speakers with subwoofer to immerse myself in the game with quality sound.
Always for PC/360 games. I live with people who, for some reason I can't manage to comprehend, don't like the sound of bullets colliding with flesh and the subsequent death screams.
In all seriousness, my family is easily bothered by my games, so I always use a nice pair of headphones.

"Not the inside of my ear, like literally my Ears ( The Fleshy lump connected to the side of my head) that would suck if it hurt the inside....
Sometimes, especially when playing Horror games or PSP games.
The DS doesn't sound that great with headphones on.
