Double spacing go away

Does anyone know how to turn off double-spacing in these here forums?

That "extra space" makes everything look neat and readable. Keeps forum posts looking pretty and all. I really don't want everyone running around ruining that.

I think if you hold sift and press enter it won't skip a line?

Yes, holding shift + enter will make it start
on the next line under

instead of going down two spaces.

When you edit a post it will revert everything to doubled spaces even after you've set them to be otherwise, so be warned. I've had entire posts messed up (at least messed up in the sense of how I wanted them to be viewed) because of this. Not really an issue though, just be mindful.

Shift-spacing works in most document editors as well. Like if you don't want a line between paragraphs. Try it and see!

Kinda seems like it should default to single space, but the shift-enter trick works. I'll take it.

When MS Word switched to the 'desktop publishing norm' of Shift+Enter it confused a lot of users at our library. They get used to it, I suppose in the same way that old folks eventually understand that text wraps on a computer; there is no carriage return needed.

I have seen more single-spacing in this thread than I have over the last 10 years of browsing these forums.
