There have been some amazing audio in the history of gaming; but what are your favourites?
For me, it's got to be the music of Killer7 and also Deus Ex.
They cannot be beaten.
Favourite Music in Gaming
Frank Klepacki and some stuff from Inon Zur's works like Dawn of War really got to me emotionally both while playing the games and outside while listening to them standalone.
I guess its only because I'm very nostalgic about it but the music in FF7 has always been a joy to listen even to this day.
I really enjoyed the soundtrack to Skate. Sort of a typical sports game soundtrack but they did an amazing job of getting artists that capture the feeling of the amateur skating world, which followed the theme of the game.
I think music in gaming has come along way in the last few years. There are some really good game soundtracks out there (even for some games that were not really good overall experiences)
Some of my all time favorites are:
- Alone in the Dark - Killing the Fissure - Olivier Deriviere & the Voices of Bulgaria choir
- Universe at War - Divine Inspiration - Frank Klepack
- Eternal Darkness - The Sign - Steve Henflin
...and everything done by Martin O'Donnell for Halo & Bungie
I like a lot of the techno tracks in Half-Life 2, as well as the Deus Ex theme song. The theme from Halo is pretty good also. One of my favorites is the Cohen's Masterpiece piano solo from Bioshock.

"The Donkey Kong Country series; specifically DKC2."Hell yeah! Dave Wise was the master! Best track was the one from that Bramble Scrambles level.

The techno/trance score for the whole Half-Life 2 series was really impressive to me. Valve's in-house musicians are really, really talented. Though most of the allure of the score is mostly the deft implementation in the game itself (it kicks in right when things get appropriately epic), I found the compositions to both original and enjoyable.
I like some of the tracks on the GTAIV soundtrack well enough (The Black Keys has an excellent track on the compliation), but overall, there isn't a grand amount of depth, despite the variety the game allows. There were, what, a whole three tracks on the game's ambient/avant garde station, The Journey? C'mon.

err. Half life 2 has neither techno nor trance. It has electronica, maybe some techno, but definately NOT trance.

I like music from games like Armored Core, Metal Gear Solid, Sonic, and Mario. I like music from alot of games, though.
MGS, resistance, Galaxy, and burnout Legends are all recent games Ive played that have good sound tracks.
