While playing games, I've stumbled across dishes that I've wanted to taste or try and make myself. Are there any dishes from games you've played that looked, or by description, sounded appetizing enough to make you want to recreate them or, at least, eat a similar version?

Off the top of my head, I recall Butterscotch Pie from Undertale and thinking that sounded delicious. Though I'm not a cinnamon person, I looked up the recipe for Cinnamon Pie, and well that sounded great too. On the savory side of things, I've always wanted to make a bowl so stocked with protein, that one might call it a portal to the meat dimension. And although I've made it multiple times now as an adult, growing up and seeing "Goopy Carbonara" in the Sims was always something that intrigued me (Carbonara is really good though). I'm also curious as to what YumYum Deviled Eggs would be like (if I were to recreated them I'd probably add avocado or something to appear "radiated"). Trails in the Sky also has a multitude of dishes (because cooking = crafting in that game) that seemed easy/appealing to make. Stardew Valley is another one, where it'd be pretty easy to put core ingredients together and add spices or herbs for flavor later.

If I punched a garbage can and a fully cooked chicken came out of it I'd probably eat it just for kicks.

Watching link inhale the Dubious Food in Breath of the Wild made me want to know what it actually looked and smelled like. Dunno if I'd actually eat it, though.

Edit: There's also the Perfectly Preserved Pie in Fallout 4... how many preservatives must it have to still be any good?

There's a video series on Eurogamer right now where Johnny on staff cooks food from video games, it's quite good. Just type "Eurogamer we made..." on YouTube and they'll pop up. He's done estus soup, sweet rolls, etc.

I was just about to say sea salt ice cream from Kingdom Hearts, and would you believe it, he just made it in said series, posted seven hours ago. Imma watch it. But yes, I want that ice cream bad.

Other than that, all Vanillaware food (Dragon's Crown had some good stuff). A Mario shroom. A soul of a hero from DS, mmm...

I don't know why, but an impossible craving was born in me 20 years ago, and forever shall it remain unsated. I wouldn't say no to a Paramite Pie, Meech Munchie, or SoulStorm Brew, either. I'll pass on the Mudokon Pops, though.

Any boneloaf, turkey leg, or pixelated roast chicken or turkey in any 8 or 16bit game. From other media: the pizza from the TMNT cartoon and the lasagna from Garfield.

In each putt-putt game there was a food item that the player could eat from a vendor and to my 4 year old mind it was like the best advertising in the world. So when I played each game I would be eating/drinking the particular food item in the game and in real life by begging my parents.

Me and my bro were really into Paper Mario when it first came out, and there was one particular character that stood out to us. This one weird Toad kid that wouldn't shut up about shroom cake, and used his endgame wish to eat more shroom cake. It became a weird inside joke with us for a while, but I've always wanted to know the delicious secret of shroom cake myself.

Never eaten a proper pork bun in my life but Kensou from King of Fighters seems to like them a lot. Pork buns seem to be all over video games yet I've never tried one.

@sinusoidal: I don't remember how it was in Fallout 3, New Vegas (or 4, which I haven't played), but in 1 and 2 those were all produced before the war, and after you drink it you get the bottle cap.

@katpottz: Ha! I remember playing Putt Putt Saves the Zoo. I can thank that game for getting my young self to love Cheetos because I kept buying the game's cheese doodles.

As far as other game food, Paper Mario for the N64 and Thousand Year Door always had a good assortment of recipes I'd totally eat, even if some of the food could be eaten in real life. I'd be down eating stuff like a Mango Delight, Spicy Pasta, Shroom Steak and yes, the Shroom Cake that somebody already mentioned. Also I'd order a pizza from Mona's Pizza (Warioware).

@fisk0: @sinusoidal: Basically, yeah. There's nothing special about NukaCola caps other than they are hard to counterfeit, small, durable, and plentiful enough to be used as currency. (Most of the pre-war paper money burned in the atomic fire, after all). When you drink a NukaCola in 3D Fallouts, you get 1 cap after the fact. There's a mission in New Vegas about dealing with someone who fired up an old a factory to make new bottlecaps, potentially crashing the economy.

Oh my god that's incredible, i'm waiting on a PC version before i can get my hands on that game.

For me pretty much everything in the restraunts of the Yakuza series looks fantastic, but i don't know if that counts as video game food as it's all real photographs.
The intro to Jackie Chan Stuntmaster sees Jackie eating noodles or... square chunks of something, whenever i see it i want to eat noodles really bad.
