Probably Contra or Mega Man 2. There were a lot of NES games that I played the crap out of...

Sonic Pinball, Samurai Showdown, other Sega Genesis games.

StarFox64 and Pokémon games.

On the old cartridge games, if you played them for a certain amount of hours, the game would eventually stop being able to hold your saved data. It was from around 300-400 hours of gameplay that caused this. And that happened to me with my Pokémon Yellow. They got better about it as the generations went on, but I'll never forget when my Yellow Version stopped saving for me. =[

Super Mario World, TMNT4 Turtles in Time, and Pokemon yellow and red. Played those games to death.

Banjo Tooie, Original Star Wars Rogue Squadron/Ep 1 racer, and Pokemon Red version.

Mine would be Star Fox 64 and Donkey Kong Country (and the sequel)

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. I loved that game so much, too many hours, very well spent. Also, Mega Man NES games.

Me and my friends were some totally hardcore kids. We played it all, man! I can't think of any one game that got a significant amount of extra attention. Even if we totally loved a game, we'd only stay with it for so long until something new came out and we were playing that instead. Games that I remember playing a lot of include Mortal Kombat II, Killer Instinct, Goldeneye, Mario Kart 64, Tekken, NBA Jam, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time, The Donkey Kong Country series, okay, okay, I think I've listed enough. Those were the days...

I played a ton of the first pokemon games.

Uh, probably Diablo II. Yes, I played that game as a kid, spent alot of my summer time playing that for hours on end.

Mortal Kombat 2, Crash Team Racing, Pepsiman, Super Mario 64, Fighting Force, Vigilante 8: 2nd offense and the 007 games (Goldneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, Racing, The world is not enough)

there are tons of games i put countless hours into but the ones that come to mind are,super mario bros1 and 3,final fantasy 1,2 and 3,mortal kombat 2,sonic the hedgehog 1, 2 and 3,street fighter 2

Dude I loved Hot Wheels Stunt Track Driver.

But for me it was Zombies Ate My Neighbors.

CTR (Also known as Crash Team Racing)
The original, Sonic the Hedgehog  and some weird Sonic pinball game also for the Genesis. In other words, a whole lot of Sonic.
Donkey Kong 64
Vectorman and Vectorman 2

Pokemon Gold, Silver and crystal. Those games were pretty addictive back in the day.

Pokemon Red, Super Mario 64. Those two stick out a lot.

Ah NES games. Super Mario Brothers, Legend of Zelda, Excitebike.

The Pokemon franchise on a whole, but more specifically, Pokemon Ruby.

I played Ghouls 'n Ghosts so much in my life. It's such a great game... so fucking addictive. I really don't know why I love it; I know it's not the best game, and it has it's problems... but I just love it. In fact, I haven't been able to beat this game until THIS YEAR. This game is that freakin' hard.

I remember spending many, many days at my friend's house playing Street Fighter II.  It was probably FFIV though, I played that game to completion more than a few times.

well I remember playing a lot of spyro, crash and one game in particular is Fatty Bear's Birthday Surprise

Street Fighter 2 or Final Fantasy VI (III in North America).  Not sure which, but both consumed hours upon hours.

I suppose childhood is relative.  I was a teenager for both games, but yeah....
