Games you loved but hated the ending

Has there ever been a game you absolutely loved, put lots of time into, and then feel like it fell apart at the end? I recently got a chance to finally play Borderlands and had a similar reaction to the way it played out in the final set of missions. 
 
 First let me just say I loved this game- it satisfied so many things I enjoy in games. It channeled elements of Fallout 3, had good shooting, loot drops, tons of quests, etc. But what the hell was with that ending? 
 

Fable 2. The ending was just so lame.

The Darkness. 
 
You didn't even get to play the ending it just showed you this awesome shit, but you never got to control anything.

Nocturne's neutral ending is awful. The game even tells you that you could have chosen a better one. 
The first two metal gear games solid have pretty lame endings, but 3 and 4 make up for that. 
Also, System Shock 2's ending was way too cliched.

KOTOR 2 strikes me first. MGS2's was pretty lame aswell leaving far too much in the open or to perception.

Although I didn't have great expectations for the ending, Borderlands' was still so dull.

Fallout 3, MGS4 (the after the credits ending), and, yes, FUCKING BORDERLANDS.  Nothing could describe my rage after that ending.  I expected essentially what was Knoxx's ending.

I spent the whole game trying to get Kate to be normal, doing stupid bowling and dart minigames, always answering her calls, then just when things were going well and she looked like she was having fun, the ending happened. Either she dies or she never speaks to you again, I got so annoyed and wished I had never bothered with her like most people.
 
Ive never hated a game because of its ending, but GTA4 came very close.

Fallout 3.  The logical inconsistency was bad enough, but their attempt to retcon it was worse.  Plus the actual ending sequence was a pale imitation of the ending montages from Fallout 1 and 2 - ones that actually  showed you how your choices throughout impacted the world, instead of a generic good or bad ending.

Surprised I didn't think of that.  That wasn't necessarily the ending, though...more like the last 1/3 of the game. "

The real ending or the conversation between snake and ocelot? Because I loved that ending.

Persona 4 - The true ending was hella Deus Ex Machina, and Adachi had absolutely no motivation. The twist that it was him all along was good, but his reasoning was lame. No Catharsis... there's my literary vocabulary for the day.
 
Sly 3 - Probably the worst ending possible ending. It left a bad taste in your mouth.
 
Star Ocean: 'Till the End of Time - I, like many people, stopped playing after the twist. The game wasn't good until that point, but I just gave up after the "OMG ITZ DA MATRIX!!!11".
 
Indigo Prophecy - For a game that relied entirely on story, it wasn't that great. Well, it was until the whole "Orange Clan" "Purple Clan" thing. The story just took a turn south way too fast, without explaining anything. Does Heavy Rain do anything similar, because I'm debating whether or not to get it. I was interested, and got Indigo to test the waters.

Batman: Arkham Asylum (last boss sucked)
Oblivion (lacked impact)
R6: Vegas 2 (so all this shit happened because I was too nice to somebody?)
MGS4 (I wouldn't say I "loved" it, but I think they really kind of botched the ending)
FFX-2 (this is really more about how they ruined the really good ending of the first game)
Star Wars: Republic Commando (ending set up a sequel that hasn't happened still)

I'm gonna bring up Rebel Without a Pulse here.

Oh, and MGS 4's ending was awful.

I didn't care too much for the ending in Bad Company 2.

Borderlands, definitely. I mean I didn't expect much, but giving the player absolutely nothing was sort of lame. 

STALKER, oh my god! Fighting through that last level of death and annoyance only to get some shitty cut scene that makes no sense and answer none of the questions you may have about anything that happens in the game. 
 
Metro 2033, another Russian game with a terrible ending, why bother with a story when you make the ending so so bad

Assassin's Creed 1 & 2 
Fable II (what a lame ass ending; I didn't even love the game) 
Rainbow Six: Vegas 2

I am surprised no one said Borderlands.. 
 
I mean the gameplay was fine.. but the story was so awful, not to mention the ending, which made no sense at ALL.

Batman Arkham Asylum.  From a story perspective, it felt cliche and rushed.  From a gameplay perspective, the last encounter missed an opportunity to utilize all the power-ups you got throughout the campaign.

Persona 4. The true ending felt really tacked on, and didn't really add much of anything.

Indigo Prophecy 

I can't even think of a game with a good ending apart from Red Dead Redemption and even that's far from perfect.

.Hack Infection had a lame ending, without any closure.
