If it isn't readily obvious, you should get Civ V.

If you can get civ4 for cheaps then get that for now.  Never was a fan of the combat in Civ4.

Civ 4 complete is alot of game for the money, i bought it this weekend, and am loving it.

Buy civ 4 then wait and get civ 5. Every civ game is awesome, you cannot go wrong. I mean, even Civ 3 is still a fantastic game. The combat is just messed up in 3 (Theres a small chance that a spearmen will kill an M1 Abrams in that game, for example)

CIV4 must be getting quite cheap in the run up to the CIV5, I would definitely try it, even just as a warm up for the new one :)

Get Civilization V. On Steam Civ IV is still at $20. I'd wait and get the latest and greatest (hopefully).

I generally get amazed at how unchanged (but continually addicting) the gameplay in this series is. I've pretty much played it in some form since the original.

@xnoxiousx:
Civ 4 Complete can be picked up for cheap, so you might as well get it to find out if it's anything  for you.
I recently bought it AGAIN on Steam since they were having a sale.

I think that makes it the game I have re-bought most times, since I've already bought the original game with expansion individually AND Civ 4 Complete on disc before. :-)

Both!

Civ IV should be a steal now, can't remember how much it is on Steam. Failing that, check out some online retailers to check pricing of the boxed version.

This way, a few healthy sessions of IV will get you in the mood for V when it comes out later next month.

I'm in the mood to play some IV now. Shame it's 1:15AM...

Starcraft 2.

No, wait. Civ 5 looks to have refined some things that bugged me in Civ4...

I would get both.  Playing the older while you wait will give you something to do.  :D

I'm still playing Civ 3 because my computer can't run the copy of Civ 4 I recently bought.  That said, get Civ V.

I have to get a new computer and then get Civ V.

If you can get 4 for cheap get it. It's got some different mechanics and might tide you over until Civ 5. With fewer sides and no stacking I image Civ 5 will be pretty different combat wise.
