Giant Bomb needs an ignore or block button

Unfortunateley the internet allows people to be anonymous. That gives people who in real life would shirk away from the slightest confrontation, balls of steel. They use this new-found courage to be assholes. They seem to be everywhere, giant bomb is no exception. They delight in just doing douchey things without fear of reprisal. Yeah we can Flag the hell out of them but that just seems to encourage them. 
 
I really want a block featureso the asshole can be ignored and left in there troll corners.
 
You know the type I am talking about, they usually frequent 4-chan.

I think this site has done a good job in keeping out the 'trash'

yeah, compared to other forums giantbomb seems to have a pretty low asshole population.

I don't post here too often, but I haven't noticed anyone who is worthy of the ignore button and hasn't been quickly banned. I agree with Dany, this site seems to have done a good job of keeping things clean.

Yeah, so far this is a far nicer place then others I have frequented.

I've never really seen anyone that I would use a block button on. Almost everyone here is great if not everyone.

I agree

Assholes exist, but this site has a lower number of assholes than nearly anywhere else on the web.

The mods definitely do there best to keep the assholes to a minimum, though with quests and all the subsequent spam they have more to deal with. At some point you just need an internal "ignore button". People on the internet can and will be assholes, if you let anonymous people get to you, you've got bigger problems.

I've been all over this wild and crazy intarweb of ours and I have to say that Giantbomb's asshole quotient is REALLY low compared to other places. Just go to the Bioware forums and try to start a civilized conversation about ANYthing. (Don't get me wrong, I LOOOOOVE Bioware, but that community scares me)

only way i see having a block button is if some douchebag keeps sending you private messages. harrassing you and stuff.

They seem to find me here then....
 
Apparently I am an asshole magnet. Pun intended.

I don't like ignore or block buttons.
 
There has to be a different way to deal with the trolls.

I would like one, there are a few users I just can't stand and a few that troll a lot that I would love to block.  But, that said, GB's community is by far the best out of any community I've ever been to.  By far the least amount of trolls and ass holes.  So for that reason it's probably not really needed.

I think it's when political topics are being discussed that there should be an ignore or block button. However this is something that can apply to almost all forums. Not just GB exclusively. Politics tends to bring out some really stupid sides out of people (me included). Other than that everyone here is pretty awesome save for a few insignificant users. Keep up the awesomeness, GB.

Not allowing yourself to get really pissed off is a good exercise in self-control. My favorite technique? Scrolling over posts from people who annoy you. Technology is awesome like that. 
 
If people are trolling so much that it's becoming a problem, they should be suspended or something. Not being able to see their posts would just get confusing.

Well, when it comes to those kinds of people on the forums, we as a community do a good job of braiding them on their own threads.  I find it entertaining.

I wrote a blog post, now deleted, where I extolled the virtues of the Giant Bomb Community. I was serious and am happy that I have found a few people to actually discus interests with.
 
Then came some kid with the user name Luce. He is a douchebag.

When I responded quizzically to what the fuck was his problem he responded with "The offer still stand...Blow Me"
 
So me being me I told him that his father mouth rapes him every night.

There's a no nonsense approach to personal attacks and harassment around here. I haven't heard of any case that wasn't settled very quickly by sending a PM to one or more moderator.
