Yes and no. I suspect I'll be playing the best games of this year for the rest of the generation, at least. Towerfall Ascension, Mario Kart 8, Smash, etc. Awesome stuff. And then also great horror like Alien and P.T., some good shooters like Far Cry and Wolfenstein, and a distinctly rad iOS lineup in Threes, Desert Golfing, Monument Valley, 80 Days, and The Sailor's Dream? Incredible. Playing all of those other than Alien and Wolfenstein makes up for missing great games like Mordor, Dragon Age, and Persona Q. RPGs alone have a super standout lineup when you add in stuff like South Park, Divinity, Bravely Default, Wasteland 2, and The Banner Saga.
But does it compare with 2012, which gave me at least four or five of my favorite games ever made? Absolutely not, and that's I guess disappointing. I suspect 2007 and 2010 are "more" that reaction for other people, but when you love Fez and Mass Effect 3 as much as I did, it's easy. All the same, it's not LIKELY to be one of "those" years, but I think there were still a really huge number of great games.
And, of course, then there are the games which should have been great that were actually bad. And, like, barring Destiny, a few of those were actually VERY bad.
