I keep telling myself I should get around to cataloging most of my collection but I never do it. A reasonable guess would be around 700 maybe. Heh
How large is your gaming collection?
220-something on Steam, like 10 on GOG (Just bought SimCity 2000! I already own the disk version of that but might as well have an easy to use Mac version) and probably 50-100 boxed PC games. For consoles, probably 400 across all my consoles and handhelds, including digital downloads like XBLA and DSi Ware. I own 3 different versions of GTA: San Andreas alone.
If we count those old shareware disks then things get crazy because I have like 10-15 of those and they have like 10 games apiece on them. I have shareware Doom 1, and Wolfenstein, and an old boxed copy of Duke Nukem 3D along with all the expansions.

@ZeroSignal: I just make lists here on GB. It's the simplest way for what I'm looking to get out of it.

No, but your Steam ID number is lower so I'm obligated to feel jealous.

This is completely unrelated, but your "Liberals Kill Liberty Dead" picture is great.
I used to have a lot but I started selling games whenever we needed money for things. Now, I only have maybe... 60 games? Most being for this generation of consoles, save for some select PS1/PS2 games.... which I might sell someday.
However, I am never letting go of my Xenogears, Suikoden, and Suikoden II games. Don't care how much they will sell for.
Somewhere around 300 hard copy games, who knows how many downloadable titles. 100 PS2 games, 40 PS1 games, 40 PS3 games, 35 Xbox games, 20 Gamecube games, 50 odd PC games
A more accurate estimation of the physical games I own:
I have ~170 to 180 games spread over 7 consoles
- N64
- X360
- PS2
- Xbox
- Wii
- Genesis
- GC
That's roughly in order of most to fewest. N64 has near 40, the others have ~20 each.
I also have about a dozen boxed PC games, a dozen GB or GBA games, half a dozen PS3 games, and 2 PSX games.
That's the majority of games I've ever owned. I'll sell the occasional duplicate, or games where I can get enough to justify doing so (more than I would pay to buy it back if I want to down the road, or to rent it or something), or when there is absolutely 0 chance I'll ever want to play the game again. But even in that case if the money I get is not worth the hassle it would take me to sell the game I'll just hang on to it, as is the case with a large chunk of my Genesis games. I can't imagine anyone paying even a dollar for some of the games I own. Well, maybe someone would ironically purchase the Power Rangers fighting game I have a copy of, or the Barney game, but I don't want to make the effort and find out.
Some would say "way too big, sell some of them"
After I kick them in the teeth I go out and buy more games.
I know I have too many games, but I'd never sell them. Half the crap I own would sell for pennies on the dollar, and there's always that moment where I'm flipping through the old binder full of discs/box full of carts and feel like tossing something in for kicks. My fear right now is the shelf life for CDs/DVDs to remain viable. I should probably start making backups before I can never play that copy of Midtown Madness or Janes ATF again.

@Vrikk: Judging by your avatar you own Earthbound.
Thats really the only game that matters.
I do own Earthbound. Got it brand new for Christmas over a decade ago. Still own the box, still own all the manuals and whatnot. It's my favorite game of all time, and is the proud gem stone of my collection.
If I ever sold my entire physical game collection, I'd still have to keep Earthbound. There's no way I'd ever sell it; it shaped my gaming tastes.
I maybe have around 100 hard copy games (this includes all generations). Sadly I sold most of my games that I don't think I would ever revisit again and used it to pay for school. I also got rid of the cases too. They now are stored in a box that holds 400 DVD's. Probably the best thing I have done is compress the shit out of my collection.
I rarely sell games. Let's see I have about 120 on Steam and maybe 40 or so stored digitally on consoles. Then another maybe 60 or 70 physical games. So maybe 250 total or something like that. I have a very outdated list on my profile. Also that isn't counting iOS games of which I have around 100. I only play about 5 of them though. If you count all iOS games that I've ever downloaded but then deleted from my iPod and computer then the number must be close to 200. I just download iOS games when they are on sale for the price of free which happens quite a bit. I doubt I've payed more than $75 for the 200 plus games I've gotten. Anyways if you count all of those then I probably have around 450 games. If you count just the ones on my iPod right now, then maybe 300.
