i have a full time job, own my own MMA school which i work at for another 5 hours (thats 13 hours of work a day) and have a 5 year old daughter that i have 50/50 custody of so i have every other day, and a girlfriend i live with. But even with all that going on i play about 10 hours of games a week. like 1 1/2 hours a day average id say.
What about you guys?
How much gaming do you fit into your busy (or not so busy) lives each week?
How many hours a week do you play or watch video games?
I've got a nine to five job and no family (kids, wife, gf, etc.) to support. I play about 2 hours a day, average. I have plenty of time to play more, but I don't want games to take over my life. Neither as a hobby nor for work. The weekends I use to clean up my apartment, visit family and/or friends, among other non-domestic activities. So, about 10 to 15 hours max a week.
But im weird. i dont like crowds generally but i do like talking with people. so online games is a good social tool for me.
just like these type of forums are.
Well let's see, I play a lot if I'm into it but that's not everyday anymore. Sometimes I'll power through a new release in a few days, or spend weeks with a fighting game - other times I don't play for a week straight. Yet I'm always on here and other sites a few times a day, usually watch a Quick Look or two, and of course my regular podcasts. I'd say on average I spend 21 hours a week on games and to me that's a lot less than what it used to be. Still love it though!
By the by, props on the Steve Zissou avatar - I love that movie. I was at an island in the Mediterranean last year and I was listening to the Life Aquatic soundtrack non-stop!
Not enough. This is the first Saturday morning in along time I have slept in past 11 and just sat around playing games in my boxers for a good couple of hours. Felt really satisfying, during the week I have little time left at the end of the day and will stay up till 2 playing games some nights, but that fucks me over when I have to get up every morning at 6:30 for work.
@tunaburn: I cut down about eight months ago, when I started dating a wonderful girl on a very crummy paycheck. When you're only pulling down $100 a week, it becomes difficult to play games obsessively and date.
No idea other then to say a lot. Usually 5-10+ hours a day. There are too many variables to really count though. For example, the last few days I have only played about 5-6 hours a day as I have spent most of the time watching TV shows I recently downloaded. Next week though, when I have watched all them, I will have nothing to do but play games so that time will probably double.
I usually get about 5-8 hours of sleep a night, so that leaves 16-19 hours each day that I will spend doing some combination of games/tv/looking at the wall/surfing online. If I have a new game that I'm enjoying then most of that time will be spent with the game. If I have just found a new TV show I'm really into then it will be mostly that.
not to say i have any money. im broke as shit. i usually play the hell out of a game as to really get my moneys worth. and the free to play league of legends has let me spend dozens of hours of enjoyment on it.
Right now I watch more than I play. Not found the motivation to play, except for alpha testing Battlefield 3.
But it's surely a good five to seven hours a day. Yeah.. I have a lot of time on my hands, which is why it's kinda depressing to play games.
@Colin: holy shit thats a lot of time! props to you for being that into it! I would definitely be in the 25 hour a week spot if i didnt train MMA everyday..... sacrifice i guessHaha well if I had something else to do I'd probably do that. Also note I don't watch any TV at all so basically starcraft streams are my TV channels :P
anywhere from 0-40 hours a week depends on how much i have to work, sleep and spend time with my friends and grilfriend. like today i have for some strange reason sinked in 8 hours in white knight chronicles 2 due to the fact that i have for the last 13 day had a 16 hours work day so today was all about doing nothing important and just relax.
Anywhere from as low as 10 to as high as 35 depending on how busy I am outside of work.
I have about 80 minute commute on a bus 5 days a week so I spend at least an hour each day playing some handheld games just going to work. From there it depends how busy I am. This week I didn't have much going on so I was parked in front of the TV playing games 4-5 hours a day. I think it helps that my girlfriend loves playing games so she will either play multiplayer with me and even if it is a single player game she will sit there watching me playthrough a game while we talk.
