I dunno why but I really wanted to post Lost World as well...

Thought I'd make this so people could share some of their favorite Light Gun games from the past. Post some of your favorites!

The game that this guy is playing is pretty good. The one I have played might be different but the gun is almost the same.

@artemesia: Ya it was great, didn't the bench vibrate as well? I remember that the Jurassic Park arcade game had a hydraulic bench that would bounce you around. But I can't remember if The Lost Worlds bench did anything.

My favourite was probably Gunblade NY. Something about the Sega Model 2 tech always impressed me back in those days and I loved the first two Virtua Cops as well. But with Gunblade NY: Enormous gun + unlimited ammo + constant shuddering recoil = blew my mind. One of my fondest gaming memories is hosing down endless guys with that massive shaking gun, with my friends staring at me like I was a total badass.

I wish lightgun games would come back in fashion someday, if only so that I can potentially play one more good Time Crisis or Point Blank game.

@laivasse: Holy shit I totally forgot about those, I remember it being a bitch to aim whenever the helicopter was spazzing out. Man the feedback on the recoil on those things was fucking awesome. When my brother still went to arcades with me when I was around 12 we always hit this thing up. Gunblade was just awesome.

edit: shameless image dump for you

Jurassic Park ate so many of my tokens. Also played a ton of Area 51.

Gunblade NY is the only arcade light gun game I've ever played. Fond memories, but looking back on it is a little tough.

The new Kinect for Xbox One could probably fit the bill.

Remember how Police 911 was one of the first motion sensor games around over a decade before Kinect was around? Not only that but it worked in a freaking arcade where lights and shit are going off all over the place. You would think when Kinect came around Konami would have just gone "hey lets port police 911 or make something similar and pack a light gun with it for Kinect". That would actually be kinda fucking cool.

My favourite was Crisis Zone, after playing a lot of Time Crisis Namco did essentially the same game with a machine gun (1P though).

@alexander: That machine gun was pretty sweet though.

edit: part of what I liked about the Crisis series is that they weren't quarter munchers, if you knew when to let your foot off the pedal to duck you could stay alive for quite a while without dying. You really got your moneys worth out of em compared to games like House of the Dead where it's an instant gib fest.

I would absolutely love to own an original Time Crisis machine. A Time Crisis 2 or 3 machine would be acceptable.

House of the Dead would be pretty cool too. One of the ones with the two handguns and a shotgun.

You know how long I've been waiting for a Virtua Cop 3 port? So long now that I've been thinking about buying a Virtua Cop 3 machine.

@yi_orange: I looked up some prices on ebay, seems that they go anywhere from $500-1500 depending on if it's a dual shooter cabinet. The amount of money to ship those things around the country looks ridiculous though O_O

I agree, Area 51 is the best. I remember EGM running a strategy guide for it with awesome close-up artwork of all the creatures. I wish I could find a scan of that issue somewhere online. :(

@corwag: Remember how Area 51 had that busty cleavage blonde operative? I had heard that there was some sort of secret to see her in lingerie and I always tried to find it.

@egyptiancowboy: No idea. I have never heard of that before nor seen anyone do it in the arcades when it was new. Damn, makes me wish I knew of a place that had that game. Haven't seen that cabinet in about 10 years.

I'll just leave that here. Growing up a huge Jurassic Park fan the Lost World game definitely ranks up there though, especially if it was the full booth with the surround audio.

I was all about Time Crisis 3, whether it was on arcade or on the PS2 with the guncon. Both had their pros and cons of course (No worries about credits on PS2 and sniper missions, but no baddass gun with feedback). I got so good at it through owning it on the PS2, that when I went to the arcade solo I would outlast most of the people who would join in. Still couldn't one credit the bastard given how hard it gets after you get through Mad Dog and Wild Fang and my lack of endurance.
