Microsoft Ready for Jingle Hero?

Ok, so we all went to a Rock Band 2 event last night to check out the new Roy Orbison pack. Imagine our surprise when we also found an open bar. Well, when in Rome, right? Needless to say, good times were had by all. Despite their proliferation, Rock Band 2 and its rhythm based brethren still manage to entertain. But what if you were to flip the script on the whole genre and have the software try to match your diva-like vocal talents? What if you then made the worst commercial in the world for said software? I'm still on the fence about this being tongue in cheek, or some kind of parody. I just can't...just can't believe that this could be real. And who the hell wants a glow in the dark towel?

Here's the deal- these kinds of video are created internally at Microsoft- I used to watch the tapes back in the day- some of the most ridiculous stuff ever- and they know it. Its meant to inform people in house- and occasionally external partners- etc. Its really just meant to be the most random thing ever that sticks in your head- lots of plays on corporate culture in general- and Microsoft specific stuff.

And if you do ever see something like this- kind of like the Bill and Seinfeld stuff-  on TV- well- they're just messing with you a bit and trying to entertain.

And this experimental- that being the emphasis- product is actually quite awesome- with lots of useful purposes- both by itself and other applications.

I've never listened to a song featuring David Lee Roth that I didn't like....

Now I have.

That is obviously some form of in joke or satire that we don't know about, because a commercial that bad has to be intentionally bad.

That is so crazy, so stupid, so...lame.

And yet, I need to try it.  Now.

This commercial seems to exist in an alternate universe where those songs don't just sound like someone making shit up on the fly.

From a technology standpoint that piece of software is pretty niffty.  From a advertising standpoint that commercial was kinda wack!  Catchy though.

Anywho, looks like i'll give this puppy a try.

Holy hell, that was awful. All those songs sounded like SHIT. I'm not sure what the use of this program is. Seems like a lazy way to approach making "music".

In fact Microsoft have invented a way to create Glow in the Dark towels and they're using this advert to see how the market will react to their announcement that their leaving the software market to persue their new interest in glow in the dark towels.

For the record: I'd totally buy a glow in the dark towel
