If Beyonce was up there and Slim Shady did this, it wouldn't be racist. The story is "dumb rapper does some dumb shit" from every angle.

The dumbest thing is that this is all obviously staged and people are making such big deals about it. Has anyone else noticed that Kanye is the first guest on the premiere episode of Jay Leno's new show tonight? The day after this hub-bub? Ratings, anyone?

Of course Kanye's actions were not racist, just stupid. But you are right, if the roles were reversed, the cries of racism would come flying forward from every conceivable corner.
 
Case-in-point: the one congressman who yelled "you lie" to Obama during his address. The NAACP and other organizations decried it as a racist attack, even though it had nothing whatsoever to do with a racial issue. Even the white house had to comment that it was dumb, but not racist.

it wasn't racist at all because, he did the same thing to obama.....just watch lol, but  honestly he was very rude, intoxicated, and represented himself as a bully. Also, being a huge of kanye, he without a doubt crossed the line. Anyways watch this short video, i found it to be funny, so i wanted to share it with the giantbomb community.   

But seriously, the real reason no one looks at it as racism?  It's fucking Kanye West.  I like the guys music, but I'm tired of his mouth and his big head.  We're not dealing with racism, we're dealing with a person whose ego is way to big and doesn't seem to know when to sit down and shut up.

Seriously, let's stop speculating baselessly what Kanye was thinking, or what he would have done in some other hypothetical situation, or how some other hypothetical situation would turn out. That way lies ruin.

My God, the number of people who don't seem to understand what the OP is getting at is astounding.  The issue is not whether what Kanye did was actually racist.  The issue is the public perception of the act would most certainly have been one of racism had it been someone white targeting someone black.  Whether the perception is accurate or not is not the issue, whether that perception would occur is.  This isn't criticism thrown at Kanye so much as it is criticism thrown at the public at large, and in that sense, I absolutely agree with the OP.

Most people don't understand what this topic is saying, he isn't saying that it is racist, he is saying that if the roles were reversed and a white person did this people would be calling that white person racist. Guaranteed.

I thought what he did was awesome. Well, not awesome but pretty damn hilarious cause who does that?! Kanye thats who! He is one major asshole though.
