Ya he was drunk and probably didn't even realize what he did. I refused to believe what I saw.

I always thought his overwrought melodrama was funny but, like always, the userbase didn't get the joke.

Do you mean that the blog by Endogene was intentional humour, but it was missed by the masses? If you do, then we agree, but we never agree, so that can't be right. Drama sucks donkey balls. That's all I have to say on this matter. But also I agree with the points being raised here, most of them anyway.
God,way to go over the drama on this one. It's the internet. It's not like he died or something,he just refused.
Still,good read.
" This is another one of those happenings here on Giant Bomb that completely passed me by without notice. Maybe I just get a sixth sense to avoid forum drama, or maybe (probably) I have nothing to say on such matters so I pop in then pop out again moving on to something more mundane or upbeat. Reading some of these "notable events" is surprising to me even though I was an active member when the controversies were unfolding. Keep up the good work. I've learned a good deal about the community I enjoy. "Dude, do you see that elephant, it's right next to you.
you don't?
Wow, that's strange.
" @natetodamax said:Please write it, I'm very interested in reading an accurate account of what happened. Not like I realy care, but just seems interesting to read while on the crapper." @FrankCanada97 said:But, the unknowing masses deserve to know what transpired that afternoon! I love these Notable Event threads. They're a great idea, so thank you for sharing some of them. As for Endogene's final blog, I did think it was a little too melodramatic after reading it. The fact he reminded the users of his name every paragraph is a great idea, assuming the reader has amnesia. In which case they might want to read it again. And again. And again. Sorry, that was a failed joke. But anyway: I do remember getting some of my wiki submissions approved by Endogene, and he seemed like a great Moderator.
He does have a point though. A lot of the site is buggy, or never even used. And that is a shame, because there are some ideas with great potential, such as the Trivia section. And what's it used for? Nothing really, that I can see. A way to waste time when bored on the Internet. Unfortunately, it's nothing more, and there is no appeal for using it. Regardless, I love the bomb. And evidently, anyone who returns here daily must love it as much, if not more than Endogene did. If I truly loved a site I would try to endure any flaws with it, and continue to use it regardless.
Yep, I wish I was on the site when he was around, I joined up right before this went down, well, not joined but joined in on the forum,"
In hindsight, I can see exactly why he kept stating "I am Endgene" before he fucked off. The very valid points he made have travelled through time well, and we've never forgotten him or his parting criticisms. Sadly, the staff haven't given a fuck about them, as he predicted well in his parting shot. Man, that dude was clever, lol "
And he was right, it's all been new stuff which is nice, these new sites and all, I mean I love movies and I would love to be able to have an upgraded IMDB because that site is outdated as all hell, but it's at the benefit of keeping the site bug free,
I just don't see the logic of moving forward without trying to get things that need fixing fixed,
I could draw parallels to MW2 But I am tired and I am going to sleep,
But that doesn't mean I don't love this site, It's still one of the best user friendly forums I've been on, (Although I wasn't really a forum goer till giantbomb) It's just I want to see it better than it is,
Good job to you, and to Endogene, but given moronic posts like the above I guess mods will once again be excused in locking it, instead of telling those people to behave. Or will things actually change this time? Yeah, right... I'm glad I didn't contribute anything otherwise I'd feel so used and thrown away >_>
There's a proverb - it's not important how a man starts, but how he ends. And I think it's very true in Endogene's situation.
Yeah, most of his points were valid. But he really deserved all the ridicule he got if he thought that being pretentious and treating a website as serious business - no matter how hard he contributed to it - is a good way to go. Maybe the Wiki really meant so much to him he couldn't do it in another way, or maybe he was driven by the love for his own words, I don't know. But if he wrote that blog in a normal way, I think he'd make a more lasting impact that could possibly change anything.
He still made an impact with his departure, but clearly not the one he wanted - the only effect he had on us is that now we're posting "MY NAME IS ENDOGENE" whenever some douche posts a graphomanic wall of text concerning the website, or rather his unwarranted self-importance.
"Frank, is Leigh Alexander next? that was balls man, totally fucking balls. I thought she was good, but man some of the comments directed at her were harsh, I suggest you do something more cheerful though, Good stuff is harder to remember than bad stuff, so good luck to you. "
It won't be the next one, but considering what video-game event is coming up in June, you'll know when it be chronicled.
Man, I must have been really hammered, because I don't even remember doing that :P ." @kmdrkul said:

Dave is awesome for occasionally going on huge rants when people criticize him. Another awesome one is here."That time when Snide yelled at me."
Anyways, going back on topic, talking about Endogene - At the time, his leaving the site seemed totally melodramatic and over the top. However, with hindsight, I can totally see why he did it in such a way. If he had just briefly explained why he was leaving, we'd have said a couple of goodbye's, and forgotten about him & why he left. But as a result of the "My Name Was Endogene" stuff, it stuck in our minds and we're still talking about it today. It was a very smart move.
I can definitely see his point, but I'd think that at least the few quests have improved things, somewhat. Not enough, though, since there are still a billion pages left blank, even a few that I've created.
I love these threads, first off. Second, I also want to nominate the stupid, stupid, stupid "Civil War", only so people can finally have a solid account of how pointless and dumb and overly dramatic everything was. All the people I talk to either missed out or were like me and complained about how stupid as shit it was, then went back to ignoring the babies on the forum.
"Considering how much the site has changed in nearly a year, would you think that Endogene would come back to the site in its current state? What would he make of all these new features notably; the Wiki Tasks and Quest System? How did you react to Endogene's departure and farewell? How would he be received if he were to return? "
We should ask him ;)

Guess so, he's been making some posts in different threads.
