Of the games officially released in English so far, what is your favorite Megami Tensei title?
Oh, god. That's a long list.
So I have a feeling that I know how this poll is going to end up; mostly with a lot of votes for Persona 4 because that's the one game on the list that most people on this site are likely familiar with to some extent, but whatever.
For me, it's a toss up, but I'm voting for Nocturne. That game is balls-hard, but the nature of the story never fails to draw me in.
I would bet any amount of fake money that Persona 3 or 4 is going to win this poll. But I hope I don't give the only vote for DDS.
Also not sure why you would group Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2 but separate the two Persona 2 titles.

I separated Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment because of their weird English release history. Eternal Punishment was released on the PS1 in English, but Innocent Sin wasn't until the PSP remake, and the localizations are also different. Eternal Punishment's still holds to the Revelations: Persona localization, while the Innocent Sin PSP release is truer to the original source.

Strange Journey all up in this shiznit.
And you did forget DemiKids, but don't worry... no one will blame you.
Well, darn it. On the other hand, you're probably right.
Nocturne is putting up a surprisingly good fight. Glad to see there's still some people with actual taste out here.
(i voted p4 as well:(. im sorry)

Devil Survivor 2 because Charlie dies at the beginning. But really because of Joe.
Still haven't gotten around to playing that one! What's this stuff about Charlie dying?
I made it to the bottom eventually, but I hate the Labyrinth of Amala irritates me slightly.
I tend to gravitate towards the most recent games (Strange Journey not invited), because the guesswork teleport-your-ass back-to-the-beginning mazes are among the most dull things I can imagine. Why not have you walk sideways facing a wall in hopes of finding a hidden door while you're at i-oh, the key doesn't fit. I also remember the floors 418 and 431 of The Tower of Kagutsuchi better than any of the story encounters which is a bit of a bummer.
The fact that my MC build and party lineup for the final boss in SJ was shit was nothing compared to the tedium.
So, uh, love the series. Nocturne is rad. Voted Persona 4.
I'm going to make Persona its own sub-series so... Persona 4 for the Persona series, and Digital Devil Saga for MegaTen. I voted for DDS btw.
I have no bloody clue. Persona 3/4 or Nocturne?
Persona 4 is an awesome combination of a simulation and a good RPG, while Nocturne is like the medium's equivalent to an epic poem.
R. They're all awesome!
I only played Persona 3 and 4. The latter being my favorite. I own Devil Survivor so I should get on that.
Well, I've really only finished Persona 3, but that's because Nocturne is (as previously mentioned) quite difficult and I don't want to commit to the 60+ hours of Persona 4 yet. Thus, by process of elimination I have to go with that?
The only one I have finished is Persona 4. I have played: Nocturne, Persona 2 Eternal Punishment, Digital Devil saga 1 & 2 and Persona 3. I never got to the end of those games. Great art direction, character design and music are the reasons why I keep going back to those games. I wouldn't mind if Atlus released an HD collection of those games and not PSP re-issue. I know that Catherine doesn't count as a SMT game but I enjoyed it.

You should have separated DDS 1 and 2 because DDS 1 is much, much better than DDS 2.
Doesn't matter too much, since I would have voted for Persona 3 anyway.
DDS2 is much much better than DDS1 actually!
also the correct answer is Nocturne, no matter how much I like DDS2's story
or Persona 2's story but those games play like ass, so sorry Tatsuya.
Nocturne. I didn't really care for the others past that one, but I've only played about three others on that list...and Atlus sent me the trade demo of Nocturne. The Digital Devil Saga games were good, but they never reached the same height of excellence that Nocturne had.
On a somewhat related note, I'm pretty sure that one of the versions of Digital Devil Saga or DDS 2 has the one box art quote that my old website ever produced. I can't remember if they actually used it or not.
It saddens me to see so few votes for DDS. While definitely less teenager hipster, it has one of the more interesting stories out of the NA released SMT games. Also, YOU ARE THE DEMON.
Edit: As a note, I did enjoy P3 and the P4 ER. I just like DDS more, then Strange Journey, then Nocturne, then the Persona Games.
I really wanna vote for Nocturne here, but I have put in hundreds of hours into Persona 3, so technically speaking that would be my favorite?
Anyway, this list reminds me of just how many SMT games I still need to play; I wish I had gotten into this series earlier. I'm currently playing the Persona 1 remake on PSP right now, and I'm enjoying that well enough (that battle theme though.. did they really think a <1 minute loop was a good idea? That song will be stuck in my head for the next millennium). It also stands out to me as the only PSP game I've played that counts 'sleep mode' time as total game time. What's up with that?
My vote goes to Persona 3. It's the one that got me into the series. I got into the fusing system very deep into that game, to the point where I broke my Persona 4 experience by picking normal and just plowed through that game.
Honorable mention goes to Nocturne though. That is a beast of a game that I have not completed, though I always enjoy making a little progress every time I play it.
Persona 4 is my favourite. I loved it before I even knew Giantbomb existed but that won't stop some people from just thinking I chose it 'cause those bomber bros did it.
I've only played Persona 3 and 4. I voted for 3, I prefer how dark it is, and I think playing it first definitely influenced this decision. Also I like the ending better. I've been wondering what to check out next but I couldn't find any good advice on it. From this poll it looks like maybe I should try Nocturne or Digital Devil Saga.
