im going to pick one up and buy all my old facorite games before including some ps1 titles like oddworld.
PlayStation 2 Now $99
its amazing how the ps2 is still selling like hotcakes. simply the best console ever made.
edit: don't get your hopes up, this could be an April's Fool joke
I was gonna pick up Person 4 but i realised that i had already watched two dudes play about ten hours of it already, so i decided to get Persona 3 which is really awesome, it's really cool how each game is similar in some spots but very different in others.
I don't think I'm missing out on much by just watching you guys play Persona. Sure I could press x at my own pace and be playing football, in the band and chasing Yukiko instead of Chie, but how different could that be? And yes I do have an excuse; there's no price cut in the UK and I'm in debt.
Not any game, Alex. Most games involve a lot more interaction than Persona 4. I'm really enjoying the endurance run, and I expect I'd really enjoy playing it. But there's not much point in spending more than £100 on something I'm essentialy experiencing already for free. I hope the publishers of Persona don't read that :-(
I'm really on the edge of buying a PS2 now simply because I want to play Persona 4 after watching you guys play it.

You miss a hell of a lot of game by only watching. Hell, I'm still missing out on a lot of the game's content in my first playthrough. I'm going to need to play through it at least one more time to get the full experience that the game provides.
It's amazing that the PS2 has the staying power to still command a $100 price point after this many years. Poor Microsoft ditched the Xbox seemingly before the 360 was even out.
Maybe I'll pick one up soon. There are a ton of games I'd still love to play, had I the time to play them.
I can't speak for the 80GB, but my 60GB runs the game as smooth as silk. I've still got my old PS2 (2 of them actually) if push comes to shove, but at $99 a PS2 is a pretty safe gamble. It seems like I lose more than that every time I turn on the television.
Casual gamers only interested in playing Madden and GH and RB games (minus the good DLC) may take advantage of this I guess.
"My launch PS2 stopped reading discs a long time ago... how's Persona fair in the backwards compatibility crapshoot? I have the MGS 4 80GB PS3, I think it does software BC."
"this isnt ps3 news. Its barely ps2 news.stupid sony"It was the media that was making a big deal about this. I really doubt Sony actually claimed that there was big PS3 news. They probably just said that they would be making some sort of announcement, and then rumors started flying that it was "big" "PS3" news.
Does anyone know if this price cut will happen in Europe also?
