Hey guys, I will be getting a Nintendo DS tomorrow and need some good game recommendations. I will be getting 3 games tomorrow with the system, so give me some ideas! Currently, I was looking at Chrono Trigger (nerver played it), Super Scribblenauts, and Puzzle Quest.
Recommend me some DS games!
Yes to Chrono Trigger!
Also any of the professor Layton games are just wonderful. If you really like puzzle games, Picross 3D will rock your world.
Not a bad list. Check out Golden Sun: Dark Dawn if you played the previous ones. Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story is pretty good also.

Solid choices though puzzle quest ain't really my thing. Anything advance wars or castlevania on the DS is pretty good and mario kart DS is pretty good if you like that kind of thing.
The Phoenix Wright series (fantastic visual novel style courtroom drama investigation)
Elite Beat Agents (great rhythm game)
Picross 3D (block breaking number puzzle game)
Final Fantasy Tactics A2 (like the other Tactics game, faster paced)
The Professor Layton series (visual novel style brain teasers)
Looks like you have some solid recommendations here already,
so I will add New Mario Bros .
Everything I wanted to say has been said, so I'll just reiterate Professor Layton. They're charming, a lot of fun and some of the puzzles are very clever.
The World Ends With You is definitely the way you have to go if you want a real DS experience.
The things they do with the combat system using that touchscreen are amazing. Oh, and I guess the characters, story, and music are all well done as well, if you're into that sort of thing...
Man, now I just want to go play through that game again. I hate you.
I've recently started playing Monster Talewhich you can get a pretty good impression of what it is by watching the Quicklook. It seems really good so far but it might be kinda short, can't vouch for it's lenght just yet.
Also Ghost Trick is sweet.
" The World Ends With You. Mario and Luigi: Bowsers Inside Story. Proffesor Layton, that whole series. Don't be puit off by The World Ends With You's slightly emo lead character, he goes through one hell of a character arc. "These, plus Ace Attorney and Ghost Trick.
In addition to the games mentioned (especially Layton and Phoenix Wright): Zelda: Spirit Tracks, SMT: Devil Survivor, and N+ if you haven't played it.
All the Professor Layton games
Pokemon Black/White
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy IV
All the Castlevania games
Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside Story
I'm going to second this suggestion. DQ IX is a great entry point to the franchise as all of the refinements the game adds make the flow of play very smooth. My favorite DQ story is Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride, but DQ IX is a more personal experience. It lacks some of the cute conversations from your traveling party in DQ IV and DQ V, but it makes up for it with better graphics and lots of funny NPCs scattered throughout the world." I'm a big fan of Dragon Quest IX. Don't worry about coming into the series late; I hadn't played a DQ game since the original Dragon Warrior on the NES and I felt right at home with DQIX. (It's not a really "story-heavy" game, if you know what I mean). "
Good choices all, don't have much else to add myself really.
Man ... the DS has got such a good library. I never really thought about it before.
Pokemon Black/White is an absolute must have, whether or not you've played any of the previous games. It's probably the best of the entire series and a great starting off point for newcomers.
Mario Kart DS is again, probably the best in the series and is a great pick up and play game.
The two Zelda games are pretty good too, not the greatest of the Zelda series but still very fun.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time is a really good multiplayer action RPG, especially if you have a friend or two to play with. It's a lot like Diablo and very addictive.
Radiant Historia, Dragon Quest IX , Final Fantasy IV and Golden Sun: Dark Dawn are the way to go if you're looking for RPG's and I'd recommend them a million times more than The World Ends with You. The older Dragon Quest games (IV, V and VI) have been re-released for the DS as well and are excellent.. V is an absolute nightmare to track down but I'd very highly recommend it, if you can get your hands on it.
Picross 3D has already been said, but I will reiterate. That game has superb value. Over 350 puzzles (I think 370ish total), a lot of which will take you 10+ or 15+ minutes to solve. I bought it last year and it's been in my DS probably 95% of the time since then (beating out Disgaea, which I love and should recommend as well if you haven't played it and like super crazy strategy RPGs, every time I sit down to play the DS).
You should get Advance Wars: Dual Strike.
3 reasons:
1. It's used and cheap now ~ $13 or less
2. This game will love you long time. I think i have 250 hours clocked on it and I'm still far from doing everything in it.
3. It's a great game and a lot better than the other Advance Wars game on the DS. That game was so disappointing. D:

I'll echo any of the Castlevania DS games, Ghost Trick, Phoenix Wright, The World Ends With You, and Dragon Quest IX.
If you're willing to put up with a JRPG that doesn't take itself seriously and has a great combat system, give Super Robot Taisen: OG Saga Endless Frontier a shot. Its got boob jokes out the wazoo, but overall its a funny game and its combat system is basically if you made Devil May Cry's action into a JRPG.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is the single best DS game I have ever played.
The others include: the rest of the ace attorney series, picross 3d, super scribblenauts, phantom hourglass, new super mario bros., dragon quest iv, final fantasy iv, kirby squeak squad, nanostray if you like bullet hellish games
i think thats all i got
100% agree with DQIX - I've grown sort of bored with older JRPG's (I was pretty into them on NES and SNES as a kid) but DQIX is brilliant. I'm probably 45 hours in, nearing the final boss but nowhere close to being done with the game. There is so much to do, so much to collect, and so many ways to build your party. I'm not even usually a loot guy but this turned me into one. Its one of those rare portable games you pick up to play for a bit and suddenly its 3AM.
After that I'd recommend Final Fantasy Tactics A2. Not the best Tactics game in the series (especially story-wise) but it'll give you dozens of hours of fun. I really enjoy the job systems from those games and love how loot is integrated with character development. The actual combat strategy isn't super-deep or complicated, but enough so to keep you somewhat challenged in the later parts of the game.
