Saddest Video Game Song
OMG SPOILER NOW I CAN'T PLAY FF7 GOSH... (Kidding of course)" the intro music for FF10.
OfficialJab said:"Final Fantasy 8 is pretty heartrending.... I cried a few times."whoa FF8, if that got you crying what the fuck did you do in ff7 when aeris died. "
Anywho! I don't think I've ever cried. I particularly got chills on the parts when you save Little Sisters in Bioshock along with the little string part.
Sniper Wolf's Theme or...Dirge, I guess would be a better word for it. Gets me every time.
MGS4 made me get emotional for a variety of reasons. And I wouldn't say I "cried" but I went through kind of a gamut of emotions from the Mass Effect endgame just from the sheer scope of the cinematics.
"Late Goodbye" from Max Payne 2. Didn't cry, but that song just hits the right chord with me in that game. Just another excellent element to that game, so underrated.
Saddest video game song is probably Want You Gone-GLaDOS at the end of Portal 2
I cried when i played slender cause it scared the fuck out of me. Unsurprisingly i didn't cry playing To The Moon, the game that claims "cannot be played without crying".
"Letter - From The Lost Days" is a pretty sad sounding song.
Aw, damnit! I saw this thread was five years old and decided not to post in it after all, but that's totally what I was going to put here before then. Good choice.
Despite my disappointment with the ending overall, "An End Once and For All" really gets to me. For a song to end the series on (admittedly this was only included in the Extended Cut version), this one really pulls at the heart strings.
Well this in combination with the story of the game, this made me cry, especially that last time...
Perhaps not the saddest video game song ever but a track from this year that got me right in the heart strings.
No video game songs have really touched my emotions, I don't usually cry when I play certain games. I usually just get a little mad when people are playing poorly inside of games though.
Totally cheating because you could probably make anything sad and tragic with Adagio for Strings but I'm sure lots of people would agree mission 3 of Homeworld hits hard
As for OSTs well....
If you've understood who Gwyn is and why you are fighting him, this song becomes incredibly impactful.
I shed some tears dealing with Kendra in Blackwell: Epiphany, i almost stopped playing becouse that was some sad shit.
Spoiler:
You are supposed to convince a ghost that she is dead and the ghost happens to be a little child. She happily brags about her toys and wants nothing but to show you how she learned to play the theme song of her favourite game Trollgate on the Piano.
I've cried watching Futurama and Scrubs (god I'm sad), but I've yet to cry during a video game, so I guess no music has really had an effect on me. I though the music in Final Fantasy X was superb though, and quite emotional at times.
I'm right there with you, Scrubs had some of the best music, and who in their right mind wouldn't get choked up watching Bender's Big Score or the episode about Leela's parents with the song "Baby Love Child" ?
I'm happy at least a couple people mentioned The Last of Us. That intro is too real. Did anybody else get choked up in Gears of War 2? You know what I'm talking about.
This game has a lot of emotional moments. Here is one, I highly recommend playing it or watching a youtube video of all the cut scenes. after I beat the game and saw a couple of the endings, it was one of those games that I just kept thinking about. I did a bunch of reading up on the lore of the story, which gives context to a whole bunch of the game and especially the enemies.
The end song to Xenogears always stuck with me... I feel like Square did such a disservice to this game..
Persona 3's ending theme, Kimi no Kioku. It's pretty upbeat but it is juxtaposed against very sad lyrics. Maybe I'm reaching here but I think it's supposed to reflect the ending, a character trying to be brave and look forward after a tragedy. I tend to tie music and memories together very strongly so hearing this always brings me back to moment I first heard it.
