Patrick, you are truly one of the best out there. Thank you for being a part of this community, can't wait for you to come back.
Damn it Patrick, we'll miss you duder!
Always loved your videos and articles, you bought a great deal to Giant Bomb and the site will be a poorer place without you.
Best of luck Scoops, I'm sure we'll be watching you closely (not in a creepy way however). :D
Now that Patrick is gone, who is going to write for the main page? I get it, this is a video content/personality driven website, but man Patrick's articles were a joy to read. Not to mention the fact he was responsible for a VAST amount of content on this site over the past two years. Hopefully Alex picks up the torch and starts writing features. I know I'm in the minority, but I really don't want this site to turn into a Quick look, UPF factory.
I believe GB is trying to hire a news editor for the NY office. I'm guessing we'll be seeing a lot more content come from out east, including a new podcast with Vinny and Alex.
@ilserpente: But then that podcast will start beef with the Bombcast. An East coast / West coast feud that will rip this industry to pieces.
Happy trails, Scoops. It was fun seeing you on Giant Bomb. Will look forward to seeing where you land.
I was going to make a joke about how you've had more jobs than Ron Jeremy but then I read your Lost quote to Ryan and I welled up a bit. Good luck to you.
Speaking of, what the hell happened to your lost podcast? You pimped my Lost Explained article and then vanished!!
Oh wow, my Internet craps out for two weeks (long story short: My landlord is a man-baby) and Patrick has left the site. ;_;
Ah well, it is what it is. I'll miss you man, just make sure you drop by from time to time. Good luck over at Kotaku...I'm sure you'll do the same awesome work there that you've started here.
I figured this was coming. Patrick strikes me as an ambitious person. Though I have to say, I have a feeling he'll regret leaving Giant Bomb. I personally thought he fit in at Giant Bomb perfectly. I certainly don't agree with his politics, but he always expressed them in a thoughtful and respectful way. Something most hard news pundits fail miserably at. I think Patrick brought an interesting and different personality to Giant Bomb, and that was a very GOOD thing. I think it will be very missed.
I don't like Kotaku. When I think Kotaku, I think snarky, smarmy folks who live inside a metropolitan bubble. I just can't get down with it. I think Patrick will be swimming in a sea of people over there that may be more like him personally, but with less talent, and for that, he will stand out less, and not shine so brightly. I digress though. I do love what he's done here, and I'll miss him. Hopefully GB can replace him with someone similar personality wise. Who that might be, I don't know. Good luck Patrick.
I can't help but feel Patrick lost a lot of the personality he brought to the site. Currently, he's a little too preachy for my taste, especially on this site. I come here for entertainment and a deeper cut into actual video games. If I want to read commentary on the social/political aspect of games/gaming culture, I will look somewhere else (usually resulting in a google search and skimming an article or /r/Games). I think Kotaku is the perfect place for what Patrick contributes now. I'm sure there are people that want the kind of op/ed that he brings. Wish him all the best.
Two weeks out of Giant Bomb and Patrick already became an alcoholic! He posted on his youtube channel a 45 minute long Q&A where he talks about his departure and his new job (and other stuff).
I'm glad this thread was bumped again, I missed this and it's probably pretty interesting this time around.
