What is the game that you think is really underrated by the masses, but you think is just brilliant. I don't mean that one oddball game that everyone hates , but that you happen to like, but a game that got decent to good reviews, but you think is in a near class of its own.
For me It's Warcraft 3. Explanation: I know it got good reviews, but to me i feel that it is in some ways a better game formula than Starcraft. I think that it is the most unique game that has such great replayability. The heroes in multiplayer are really specatular. The story is excellent and makes characters that you really care about and feel invested in. Maybe people don't think this is underated, but I don't think it gets the fabulous praise it deserves.
What I have played of this game (by which I mean watching my friend play) seemed pretty good. But then again, that was just the tutorial, but anything with beards that great must be great.
The story might not be the most enticing one out of the franchise, nor the characters the most mesmerizing, still as a game it set up solid foundations for the advance of the JRPG niche, and a great game on its own.

Just cause 2, I mean they gave it an overall lower review than I expected. However it suceeds as an open world game and it has alot of replay value. This game is exactly how an open world game should be like and it's totally fun.
The Last Express. Easily one of the best point and click adventure games of all time, but one that's rarely mentioned under the pile of LucasArts or Sierra classics. Beautiful art direction, mood, storytelling and writing. Plus games that take place on trains are always awesome.
that is interesting, because I saw pits and pieces of it, and thought that it had a ton of potential to be good, but it definitely needs a sequel to finetune it.
@megalowho: Wow that looks absolutely brilliant, the Edwardian era portrayed in the only real acceptable way in this modern era besides using H.G Wells himself. The Golden Age of Rail!!
Command AoD My pick would be Command Aces of the Deep, one of if not the greatest submarine sims of all time and not many people know of it. (In my experience. Also the first time I remember using Voice Recognition that actually worked.)
God damn yes-ness. I was playing it last week. I never did get past Sean Darcy though, that game does have some freaking issues (in this case the fact that It let me put too points into stealth and not enough into health).
I would also like top give a shout out to Jurassic Park: Trespasser, Which is equal parts genius and terrible.
@Riboflavin: STALKER is pretty awesome as well, and not nearly as buggy as Trespasser.
I agree with the Warcraft 3 thing, that game was awesome. I don't agree with it being better than SC though. I liked the massing of SC more than the microing of abilites of War3.
RA3 Uprising would be mine. The Commander's Challenge is so much godamn fun. Just go try to beat the par times in all those, i dare you.

I couldn't agree with this more. Grim Fandango is easily one of the most funny/well-written games I have ever played. You must play it, it's aged very well- so there's no reason not to^^
