Top 10 games of 2009

Im bored and started thinking how GB did a top10 games of 2008 list before deciding on the goty last year, and ive been thinking about my favorite games this year. So far i've come up with,  in no particular order:
 
Street Fighter 4
Infamous
Borderlands
Batman Arkham Asylum
Shadow Complex
Dragon Age Origins
Resident Evil 5 (initially I said it wouldnt make it, i actually finally played and finished it, and I ended up loving it. I'll still probably bump it for something else tho, we'll see)
Modern Warfare 2
Brutal Legend (this will probably get bumped off too)
Uncharted 2

now, there are many games I haven't played yet (or are even out) that I think will squeeze in my top10 for this year. they are the following:
 
Assassin's Creed 2 (liked the first, but it was repetitive as hell. if they fix this, i might go from like to love)
Ratchet & Clank A Crack in Time (i was never into this series in the ps2 era, but I played and quite liked the first future and the small "expansion", so this new one might just make my top10 list) 
The Saboteur (this game looks really stylish and slick, might be a surprise)
 
Some big games that definately wont be in my top 10 include: 
 
Killzone 2 (yes it looked great, but for me it was just a good fps, nothing more)
Halo ODST (see KZ2, minus the looks great part...i kid i kid :D)
Left 4 Dead 2 (the premise of the first one was amazing, but I never really got into it, mainly because im not a fan of multiplayer, so the sequel will have the same problem for me)
Prototype (I liked it, even got all the upgrades, but in the end, its just "good", not "top 10 good")

Of the games I have played so far.  Still plenty of room for AC2, Borderlands, Dragon Age, Ratchet and Clank, MW II or any other sleepers.  BTW I don't play Sports  or Music games.

Having only played 7 new games this year (I bought a bunch of older ones), I'll rank them as follows:

7. Borderlands; i like it but PC version needs more polish. Haven't finished it yet either due to DAO coming out.
8. Killzone 2 (First FPS on console in ages i've played)
9. Fat Princess, my sister plays it more than me. Smaller games of 8 on 8 would make this game perfect and have games run shorter which in turn would make it something i'd play regularly. Much like I do with TF2 and CS:S still.
10. Street Fighter 4, eh just wanted 10 things on this list. Didn't play it as muchas I expected and when MW2 comes out or Assassin's Creed 2 it will get bumped for sure.

However MW2 should be on this list when its out probably 4th or 5th. The numbers were tough choice and were changed a few times. Biggest disappointment for me so far this year was Scribblenauts. Really need to spend some time and play Kingdom Hearts 358/2 and the 2 Layton games. This is only my list of 2009 Games.

I don't have that many 2009 games, since I've been buying older ones, so..

Yep... I have no new games at all. Not that many are catching my eye either.

There are at least two more games coming out soon that I probably need to consider (MW2 and AC2), but here are my 10 best games of the year thus far in no particular order:

Im very curious about it, maybe because im so tired of "guitar games" (and yes, i include rock band in that), havent gotten any since rock band 1/gh3, but DJ Hero really seems different and new/refreshing. At the same time, I cant see myself spending what pretty much amounts to the price of 2 new games on it, for example, i just preordered MW2 and Assassin's 2 instead of getting dj hero... oh well, maybe one day ill get or try it

Resident Evil 5 would actually have ended up as my GOTY if not for Uncharted 2 being so unbelievably awesome.  I hated RE5 with a passion of the bat, but that game does a major turn around the longer you stick with it.  Besides that, I'm not too interested in what this year has had on offer.  Magna Carta 2 ended up being just sort of OK, though it is an improvement from the first game, which was the worst RPG I ever played. (ever) I'm still not sure if I hate or love Demon's Souls.  I don't think I'll be able to figure that out in time to know if it's my GOTY or disappointment of the year.

My Top Ten Games of 2009

I know there are more than ten games on this list, but it isn't finished yet.

   Rough Draft.

	1. Modern Warfare 2 Call of Duty 4 is one of my all time favorite games. Why expect anything less from the sequel?
	2. Left 4 Dead 2 More zombies in need of killing, count me in.
	3. Shadow Complex Possibly the best value of any game this year.
	4. Torchlight
	5. League of Legends: Clash of Fates
	6. Borderlands Mad loot in the form of a bazillion guns? Awesome.
	7. Grand Theft Auto IV Lost & Damned is possibly one of the best singleplayer experiences of 2009 and it was a DLC add on.
	8. Resident Evil 5 Does not expand much on what Resident Evil 4 did, but I still had a blast playing Resident Evil 5 online and off.
	9. Street Fighter IV Classic Street Fighter taken to a new level of greatness.
	10. Killing Floor
	11. Fallout 3 DLC

Assassins Creed 2 is looking sweet though, can't wait to play it.

1. Batman: Arkham Asylum might take it just for how unexpectedly incredible it was. I mean not unexpectedly good or adequate, but this game was a fucking REVELATION for how action games could be done. Especially action games with what is essentially ONE attack button (I know there's a "stun" attack but it doesn't do damage and I only remember it when the knifey guys show up and I don't have my limb-breaker at the ready). Think about that, ONE attack button, but it's still so dynamic with the combat.

2. Other than that Dragon Age is shaping up nicely.

3. Got a huge kick out of Infamous

4. Plants VS Zombies, I'm gonna have to agree. At first I kinda chuckled seeing that on someone's list, then I remember the hours and hours I sank into that (budget priced) game.

That's all I'm really willing to do since I still haven't played a lot of great releases from this year and there are still a few to come.

I'm happy to see some people listing Plants vs. Zombies. I don't think that game ever got the attention it deserved. I'm not sure if it has any chance of making my personal top ten for 2009, but it's definitely a game that deserves to be mentioned as one of the year's best.

Damn, this got me thinking, I think I've only bought three new games this year. The rest of the lot were from years past. My three new games were.
 
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 for the Wii.
Dawn of Discovery for the Wii.
Wii Sports Resort
 
There's one Xbox 360 game I'm getting released this year and that's Assassin's Creed II, well and maybe Batman Arkham Asylum, the rest will be on the Wii.

Funny that I can't think of one game that I've bought that came out this year... I need money. :(
