Sleeper games are bitter sweet to me. They are good games that knowone really know about (which makes you specail),but the multiplayer dies faster than a Swine Flu baby.
My sleeper hit of the year was Red Faction: Guerilla, I'm still narking my friends to buy that game. I was also Impressed with Battlefield 1943 I didn't know that game existed until the day it came out and for ten bucks you can't get a better multipayer game. So what are your sleeper hits of 2009?
What are your sleeper hits of the year?
Hate to beat a dead horse, but Uncharted 2! That game is wonderful, and aside from some weird lag, its multiplayer component is surprisingly great.
Other than that I can't think of anything that I'd really call a sleeper hit, but BF1943 ate loads of my spare time; it's an addicting and fun multiplayer experience.
I'm going to be cheap and say my sleeper hit from last year and that was Civilzation Revolution, no one bought that game and it seemed to me like it should have sold a little more. This year though, Dead space was a surprise and I didn't think it would be as good as it is but I was wrong.

I don't think Uncharted 2 counts as a sleeper hit...

"This doesn't count, it has sold 1.3 million, even though that is a lot this game should be at 3-3.5 million in my opinion when garbage like ODST out sells it easy.
" this really obscure game called modern warfare two "Sounds interesting, might have to pick this one up.
Batman I didn't even know it was coming out than everyone was freaking out and it is one of my favorites now I hope the sequel is an open city like game sorta in the vain of inFamous which I just finished playing like 24 hours ago and its awesome but has really bad framerate issues but still alot of fun.
I can safely say Torchlight, Demon's Souls, and Red Faction: Guerilla all had that perfect mix of respect, lack of any real hype, and respectable sales (we here's hoping that holds true for Torchlight).
Demon's Souls
Trials HD
Magic XBLA
True sleeper (noone bought it) :
Lode Runner XBLA
Raiden Fighters Aces
Williams Pinball Hall of Fame (360/PS3 version, which I didn't even buy because I have it on Wii)
Super Robot Wars OG Saga : Endless Frontier
Sleeper hits are harder to determine. Surprise hits are easier and I think that's pretty much what people are posting.
I love how people are mentioning very well known games that had commercials airing pretty much all the time as a "Sleeper Hit"...
Red Faction is very popular. Every time I mention it when talking to my friends, at least 10 people hear me and are like "DUDE OMGZ I LOOOVE THAT GAEM SOOO MUCH YOU CAN LIEK EXPLODE EEEEVEEERYTHIIING!". And yes, my friends talk like that. Every single one of them is a moron.
Saying that Red Faction, Uncharted 2 and Arkham Asylum are sleeper hits is like saying that The Dark Knight was a low-budget indie movie made by a couple dudes in Mississippi.
" Hate to beat a dead horse, but Uncharted 2!"Hmm yea no one really knew about that game aye.
" Tales of Vesperia; its not really truly considered as a sleeper hit but its the lowest profile game that I can think of that I bought this year. Moderately popular game, nothing more. "You realize that Vesperia is wayyy over a year old? It's almost a year and a half since it's been out. :P
Mine would be Demon's Souls. I have been playing this game for the past few days non stop... It's awesome.
" @Bald3rdash said:Of course it does. Just like Dragon Age Origins and Modern Warfare 2. Duh."Hate to beat a dead horse, but Uncharted 2! Haha... I'm NOT the only one that bought Way of the Samurai 3. I actually pre-ordered from the American Amazon, since the Canadian site didn't have it. I really don't know if I'd call it a sleeper hit, though." Torchlight, Red Faction, Borderlands, and Way of the Samurai 3 "
" Risen, takes me back to the days of Morrowind, except the combat is more interesting and of course it looks better. "A game I really wish I could try, but between the games I have now and the ones in Q1 of next year, I doubt I'll ever get around to having the time to buy it and play it. Still haven't beat Witcher.
