L.A. Noire
What a load of shit that was.
I don't really regret anything I've bought this year. I'm very selective about what games I purchase and try not to let myself get caught up in the zeitgeist of games that I know aren't really my thing. That said, like a month after I bought Mass Effect 2 on ps3 the price dropped to $20 -_-
LA Noire, From Dust (not enough time spent playing it), Ms. SpolsionMan (fuck this game), Outland (could not get into it), and MW3.
Gears of War 3. I loved the first two, but this one was simply too damn similar. Might play some multiplayer later on, but dog gamn that story was so boring and playing singleplayer Gears is simply disgusting to me now.
I also regret downloading the RAGE demo this week. I was bored to a fucking headache before I could even get to do any shooting. I feel bad for anyone who bought this game.
I bought Test Drive Unlimited 2, that was a big mistake. Loved the first one, the second had a lot less content and was just generally shittier. Traded it in for 75% off Crysis 2, for the 360. The framerate was so bad I couldn't finish it, despite it being a good game. Traded that in too, bought it on PC instead that's a million times better.

Deus Ex. I'm on the second boss fight and I'm just not having fun with the game anymore. It was fun, but not great. Only bought it for forty bucks though so I'm not lamenting over it.
I concur. Fun but not great. I used some kind of god mode for most of the bosses. Forget where I got it but it made the game finishable.
Bought RAGE @ full price a week before 11.11.11, trying to take my mind off the wait. Big mistake.
Posted this in the other thread, but MK9. Gerstmann got me all hyped for the game but his review didn't mention it's entirely unplayable online. My fault for believing a game review, really.
Marvel VS Capcom 3. Not because I don't like it, but because Ultimate was announced literally less than a week later. Why...!?
I regretted buying Mortal Kombat, but luckily my brother was able to get it on his employee discount. I ended up selling it for more than I paid!
Surprised at all the L.A. Noire nominations in this thread. I thought that game was universally praised. I Was thinking of picking it up this weekend for $30, but I'll probably end up getting something else (like Catherine).
This year I bought L.A. Noire, Battlefield 3, and Modern Warfare 3. I regret nothing...
I will most likely pick up Skyrim in a few weeks.
Gotta go with Dead Island. Should have done my homework but I really wanted to give it a chance.
Runner up would be Skyrim. Only because I haven't got much time to play it between Saints Row and Dark Souls. I think those two games would've tied me over the holiday when I can get Skyrim for less than retail :-\

Lol, thats awesome because you were the sole person I remember defending the game here when the quicklook came out. Saying weird uneducated things.
Bejewled blitz because it was 200 points during summer. I only had 200 left and games were rarely that price... They ruined bejeweled. If I am regretting a $2.50 purchase you know they done fucked up.
Halo Reach - Thought It would be a good place to try Halo after getting a 360, boy was I disappointed.
Gran Turismo 5 - This game is so dull and feels dated.
Crysis 2 - Silly and linear single player campaign, multiplayer was Ok.
Venetica - Rubbish combat, story, puzzles and camera.
Mindjack - I got this very cheap after the negative reviews, I thought it might still be ok but it's boring, controlls poorly and looks like a washedout PS2 game.
Dungeon Siege III & The Tomb Raider Trilogy HD - Just have not played these much.
Modern Warfare 3, at least at full price. I wanted to wait but my desire to see the conclusion to the story kind of lead to an impulsive purchase. I also regret getting L.A. Noire for full price on Steam days before it went on sale for half-off (especially considering I haven't touched the game since buying it due to other games I've been playing.)

Except of MW 3 i haven't play it yet xD
None because I actually enjoy a vast majority of the games I buy. Besides I buy them dirt cheap in case I'm disappointed which is rarely the case. In fact the only games I "regret" buying in recent memory was Bionic Commando: Rearmed which was the only time a review burned me on a game purchase. It was like 5 bucks so whatever.
This year? None so far.
MVC3. Not just because of the short amount of time that UMV3 followed, but the fact that to me it even felt like it wasn't a complete game to begin with. No spectator mode in an online fighter?! Card humping ftw.
Dead Island and Batman: Arkham City. Batman is good but spectacularly overrated. Should've rented it. Dead Island simply isn't very good at all.
I kind of wish I had just let Portal be. Portal 2 played fine, but the storytelling and humor fell almost entirely flat with me. I got it on that Kmart sale after release though so I'm not too broken up about it.

1. I was defending the game against the idiotic "generic art style/ looks like every other game" complaints.
2. I wasn't the only one who had to point out to people that art style and setting are not the same thing.
I thoroughly enjoyed the setting and visuals of Rage. It's just that the story and mission structure was stupidly boring.
the only thing i regret about some of thes iv bought this year is that iv not had chance to finish with some, or in some cases even start them,
i bought and haven't started Dead Space 2, Too Human and Metro 2033,
and i havent finished Deus Ex, Alan Wake or Crisis 2
Crisis is the only one im not going to bother going back to, it was fun, but i just reached a point where i didnt want to play it anymore at about 4 hours in i think it was

Dark Souls. Not that it's bad or anything, but I simply haven't played enough of it to warrant the $60.
This, although I plan to finish it eventually.
Mass Effect 2 (PS3) was far worse though. I'd heard such good things about it that I bought it at full price, I played the first 3 hours about 3 times and it just never caught me. I also kept it for so long that when I eventually traded it in to get Dark Souls (I make bad choices sometimes) I got like £3 for it.
Dead Rising 2: OTR, because I never touch it. Fall is a terrible time to release a special edition title.
I loved Rage, but there was so, so little content. The shooting and crafting felt really good, but where was the rest of that game? Two discs for the campaign? Really? Rent this.
But most of all, Hunted: The Demon's Forge. It wasn't finished. I was play-testing it.
