What is your favorite video game genre?

(Should have put an "Other" option in there. Mah bad yo)

Just wanted to see what you guys like to play. My favorite genre by far would have to be FPS, but I do enjoy a good amount of third-person games as well.

Hrm, would Castlevanias fall under adventure or action adventure??? Then again, I do have a crap-ton of RPGs....

i like action adventure, or just plan adventure, easily my favorite game is the new prince of persia..that game got me into adventure games more

RPG/JRPG.
I also like Strategy and RTS.

And where is the Hack "N Slash???? I like those too. The more bloody the better.

FPS hands down... then either action/adventure or RTS followed by RPG  and racing :P

Sports, so I picked Simulation.

Other: A combination of many genres.

Action adventure. A lot of mini genres fall under this.

Whatever the hell Survival Horror would fall under... A/A I guess. Followed closely by JRPGs.

You forgot to list Fighting and Music games in the list, but my favorite games are RPGs/JRPGs/WRPGs/RPGRPGs/MMORPGs.

Well, I would pick "Action Adventure" because it encompasses many types, but "Third person shooter" can also fall under that too. The Resident Evil series, MGS, GTA, Mario? (I think) fall under this, so that would be my pick.

Action/Adventure

RPG. Though I am more into western-RPGs and not so much JRPGs. But that is for sure my favorite.

I like anything that's has an open world. GTA, Crackdwon, Saint's Row, Fable, etc. etc.

Dunno what category that would go in though.

Is Nazi Shooting a genre?

Though im not going to choose a favourite genre. I play games from most genre's except Sports. Im not going to say I play them all equality but I dont play one too such a degree its my favourite.

RPG

Action Adventure comes in close second, followed by shooters.  :3

I love me a good JRPG. I picked that because they're slightly better than fighting and music games on the whole (even though Stepmania rocks my pants off), which aren't on the list. And yes, I did read all your posts that said you just forgot to put in an other option, and I forgive you.

Action-Adventure.

 Zelda, Metroid, Okami, Resident Evil, God of War, Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Colossus are some of my favorites in the genre.

Other- Music games.

Toughie between RPGs and Third Person shooters.....

Close call because I like most genres of game to some degree, but I'll go with RPG, since I'm a huge roleplaying fan.

-So I obsess over competitive multiplayer games.
-I love open world games.
-I like western RPGs with a realtime combat system. Stuff like Mass Effect or Fallout 3.
-Generally - Frist Person >>>> Third Person.
-My most important attribute for a game is : PHYSICALITY!

Physicality like in Battlefield : Bad Company's Frostbite Engine with its destructibilty.
Physicality like in GTA IV's Emotion Engine giving the virtual humanoids mass.
Achieving physicality must be a goal of every modern game. Developers pushing physicality are on the right track.
Can't wait for a engine capable of handling ricochet bullets. Now that's a feature I want to see!

So - long story short. I like my games simulating reality as close as possible. Doing incredible things in a believably simulated environment, that's what I get the most fascination from. How's that for a genre?

I like hitman series, so 3rd person shooter for me.
