I just ordered Forza 3 and am planning on getting GT5 when it drops. Any suggestions for Artists/Albums/Artists that go well with racing? (Not interested in techno or trance) Thanks.
What music goes well with racing games?
METAL. Sabbath, Metallica, Motorhead, basically anything fast. Motorhead's Ace of Spades (song) and Metallica's Kill'Em (album) all come to mind. Judas Priest and Iron Maiden are pretty good too.
electronic, drum n bass, trance
Nothing. You want it as real as possible, you gotta just turn the music off and have the engine noise.
Plus, electronica is just god awful.
I like how you're asking this, because everyone knows how god-awful the boring ass jazz in those games can be.
Paradise City by GNR
hence why it's the cover song for Burnout Paradise
I know you said you weren't interested in trance, but I have a good variety of pop, electronic music and hip-hop on my PS3 for when I play Midnight Club LA.
If you're playing a game such as GT5 or forza... then none is my reccomendation. Quite apart from both games having some spectacular engine sounds, they generally require vast amounts of concentration for pretty much anything that isn't simply strolling through season play with the autobrake on. And music which does not have your full attention is simply noise... although i suppose with such ghastly recommendations you probably won't notice the difference.
White Stripes, Dropkick Murphys, AC/DC, Metallica, Smashing Pumpkins, OK Go, Offspring, Nirvana, ZZ Top, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Rob Zombie, Guns n' Roses, Motorhead, the Jay-Z & Linkin Park collaboration, and Andrew W.K. are all part of my general racing music for Forza.
Individual tracks by other random artists include: Blackout (Method Man and Redman), The Distance (Cake), 96 Quite Bitter Beings (CKY), Run Through the Jungle (Creedence), Voodoo Child (Jimi Hendrix), We Are Rockstars (Does It Offend You, Yeah?), Bawitdaba (Kid Rock),Still D.R.E. and Next Episode (Dr. Dre), A Little Less Conversation (Elvis, JXL remake), Lean Back and Ain't Sayin Nothin (Fat Joe), Legacy (Gone Jackals), Ghetto Bird and It Was a Good Day (Ice Cube), Let's Go All the Way (Insane Clown Posse), Real Big (Mannie Fresh), Rock Star (N.E.R.D.), Control (Puddle of Mudd), SF Anthem (San Quinn), Hold On I'm Comin (Sam and Dave), Black Betty (Spiderbait), aaaaaaand.... Oh Yeah (Yelo - gotta have it for the Ferraris, bitches)
