People of Giant Bomb, I only have time for one RPG this Winter during the holiday and with MW2 taking up the rest of the time, decide which RPG I will be buying. Go!
I'll go for Dragon Age if you're going for length since you could always play around with mods (assuming you're getting it for PC) otherwuse Final Fantasy sounds pretty good. I've no knowledge of the Tales of series though so I can't tell you much on that unfortunatly, sorry.
If you can read and understand Japanese, i would wholly recommend getting FFXIII. if your understanding is just minor i think you wouldn't get much out of FFXIII story-wise (and isnt that what FF is all about?)
ToV is good if you want an inexpensive option (unless you're talking PS3 version). Dragon Age is good if you're into WRPGs or if you have a PC and enjoy all the mods and custom content. FFXIII is good if...well, if you're a sucker for FF.
I got a Macbook Pro with 9400M and 4 gigs of ram. Better to pick it up for PS3? The problem is I do remember old Bioware RPGs for PC and loved the living hell out of Never Winter Nights. I DLed so many mods and bought all the expansions.
The big problem is all this buying DLC shit for 3shitty and PS3. I'm not doing that.
Tales of Vesperia has an insanely long story and the battle system is really great. FFXII doens't come out till next year, and Dragon Age looks sweet... I would say go for ToV, then get Dragon Age when it's a little cheaper.

Pshh, then its not really out anywhere important. Anyway, dont waste your time with that trick, gets some Dragon Age on. All JRPGs are nostalgic to the gameplay from, oh... 1992? Dragon Age is old school gameplay buts a lot deeper than those two.

I would personally shoot for XIII. The game is probably going to be delayed yet again, and it is a Final Fantasy game...we've been looking forward to this thing for about 4 years now. Thats my vote.

From someone who has been a "console gamer" for my whole life I'm really wanting to play Dragon Age on PC....it just looks miles better on the PC. If you've got a PC that can run it I'd go there.....if not Final Fantasy XIII. Though from the reviews coming in I've heard the console versions of Dragon Age are pretty similar but both have some graphics and frame rate issues.
If you favor games like Baldurs gate, Icewind dale, Temple of elemental Evil over JRPGs. Go for Dragon Age, you will get much more out of the game in terms of replay value.
Final fantasy 13 speaks for itsself really, you basically know what youre getting from it. Its either a must get or a not get if you ask me. No matter what though, its gonna be f`in epic lol.
I wasnt expecting to se ToV in the poll though, and that makes me glad because its a really really good game. If you appreciate games like Tales of the Abyss this will only make your impression on the series better. I think the Tales series is highly underrated, and its as good as any rpg really if you can look past the flashy cinematics of say FF. And the dialog in the Tales games are extremely good and enjoyable.
Personally i will get all three >-< because i cant choose one away. But if i had to pick i would have to go with Dragon Age even though im a hardcore FF7 fanboi. Old school PC rpgs need all the support it can get, and Dragon Age i know will be a surprise of many calibers...
