why is there an "other" option

On your profile you can select your gender as male, female, or other

That's for people who do not wish to disclose their gender. Obviously! (I know I was supposed to say something funny but... no.)

Some people just can't decide and need that third option.

Some folks like to keep a sense of privacy and may not wish to specify their gender, so there is the 'other' option to suit that need.

It's for those who are born with ambiguous genitalia, transgendered individuals, and people who identify their gender as "androgynous".

Also for people who wish for privacy.
