I tried to redeem a code and got an error 500. Would that invalidate the code?
Fixing this now.

Sounds like a very generous and nice idea, not gonna sit there and panter and beg like most people will for a gifted membership if someone gives me one then ill be thankful for it. and a plus is the people who do gift someone with that get a coupon so kind of a win-win situation?
I see what you did there.

This is a cool idea ripped off from Steam, but if GiantBomb becomes more like Steam they are on the right track.
The ability to gift stuff has been around since before Steam y'know?
For gamers? Digitally? Do tell...
You can gift anything in this day n age you idiot.
The ignorance of some of these posters is amazing. No wonder this site attracts mostly a console crowd.
Yep, definitely sHitman.

I still don't know whether whiskey supports Paypal, on the upgrade page it doesn't show it, and whenever I put my CC number it fails
When I was trying to redeem the code that was put on twitter I saw the paypal membership option is in the store not the upgrade page. There is a disclaimer saying your account email needs to be the same as your paypal email.

I just sent my first membership gift to Chrismafuchris, who won it in a topic I made a month ago. It will not be my last gifted membership!
Awesome!

I know this probably isn't the place to ask, but i recently bought a yearly membership using Paypal and haven't received a store coupon. Was I supposed to or do they come later?
You don't get a coupon when you use Paypal. You get a Member's T-Shirt instead. That should have been pretty explicite on the store page.

Oh, I see, i didn't realize the shirt was a replacement for the coupon. I thought the shirt just came standard with all premium memberships.
Can I put the email address of the person I'd like to gift to in the email address field of the form? I'd rather have it send an automatically generated email through the system rather than me having to tell the person... Anyone know if that would work instead?

I'm unclear on one thing. If I gift someone, do they get the $15 coupon or do I?
They do.
Thanks for the reply, man. I feel like I've just been touched by greatness. That's a really cool gift to get someone.
Well you're free to leave. You're snarky comments and bitching about ads for the sake of it surely won't be missed.@I_smell said:

My girlfriend buys me stuff on Steam all the time so I'd always wished there were a way she could buy me a Whiskey Media Premium membership. Now how to drop the hint...
Nice going, Staff! I do have a Birthday coming up (October 20th), but sadly, I'm still thinking about how I would repay whomever would give me a subscription. One of the Whiskey Media shirts, mabye?
my letter of concern to giant bomb/whiskey media regarding subscriptions:
I know this seems weird. But restricting the most appealing content under the whiskey media banner to only the paid users is a horrible idea. I would rather it be free, so it can attract more new fans. IF I paid, it wouldn't make me feel any less of the site.
The subscription would be based on other things besides just getting all the content. (think valve). If you gave away all your "premium" content for free, then maybe you would have more people that WANT to pay you money, instead of thinking that you want our money first, then you will care about us.
side note, to be honest I never liked the brand name whiskey media. Every time I go into detail to explain it, it ends up painting the picture of incompetence and giving people money for the hell of it. Just everything Ryan Davis said in the recent big live live show live about getting a subscription, it totally turned me off even more than I originally was to the idea of a subscription making sense in its current state.
You're trying to get me to pay money for the whole group of sites. Well I don't use anime vice, screened, and comic vine, nor do I want to support their existence with my wallet.
If you ever want my money, the plans have to change (directly fund giantbomb option, or lower price, something beyond more "premium" vids of ryan davis speaking his mind which is a good chunk factually incorrect statements).
If youre going to force me to pay money just to get all the video content (would never happen if that was the appeal) I would at least appreciate it that my money is going to the website I use and like, instead of also funding websites I couldnt care less about.

There's no such thing as trolling. You're either crying wolf or in sheep's clothing.

Yeah I also think that, I'm totally sick of the internet talking about trolls. Half the people don't even really have a solid definition of it, and it's more often than not just people tryina bring up a normal point.
and it's like "obvious trolls is obvious" n I'm all "oh my fucking god".
