You know what drives me insane about this site??

I adore this site I really do but the one thing that drives me up the wall is when you're watching a video and say you pause it to go look at something else and come back to resume and you bring the mouse cursor down from the top of the page to click on the video to resume but instead end up clicking something from one of the drop down menus say in podcasts and it takes you there...it's not a huge deal as i can just click back page and the video will resume as normal but it happens to me all the time!

Anyone else or just me?

There have been complaints about this before but they are far and few between. I've only done that like once or twice in all of the years I've watched GiantBomb

Yeah, it's annoying. I did it 2-3 times in one week and I had to train myself to pause and make sure I'm not hovering one of those menus before trying to replay a video.

It's bad but it's not the worst thing in the world.

Whenever that happens, it's a race to cancel the page loading. I successfully stayed on the page once. It was great.

There's actually a thread about this that's been pinned in the bug reporting forum for months. Last update from someone on the engineering team was 8 months ago saying they wanted to "discuss it internally", but I'm guessing that hasn't happened yet since the thread's still pinned.

It should have like a half second delay..that should be more than enough i think.

I've never done this because I always have the videos embiggened and click further down than the drop down boxes end. *shrugs*

Its annoying the first times it happens but when it happens more than several times you got only yourself to blame. Its like the first time you knock something down from the stove, its annoying but you adapt and then you know it wont bother you in the future. Its not a big deal.

This has never, ever happened to me. Push the space bar to resume videos.

Besides the "resume from last position" function works, most of the time anyway.

The mouse cursor not disappearing during fullscreen videos really grinds my gears.

This happens to me all the time and I never learn my lesson.

yeah. i feel you on this. very annoying, but i cant think of a good solution.

I know this is legit, but i seriously have no clue how you guys manage to do this. I tried to replicate it and it seems you have to be lightning fast to even do it. You kids and your reflexes and lack of muscle death etc.

Happened to me a few times, hasn't happened for a while now though.

I can't remember the last time I used a PC to view this place. Sounds horrible.

Happens to me all the time, very annoying. A solution would be to design a horizontal drop down rather than the vertical one.

Used to happen to me all the time. I learned to either enlarge the video to fill the window, or to scroll the page down until the menus are off the top of the screen before I start the video. Hasn't happened since.

I do this all the time.

Press space bar twice. One to stop the video and hide the cursor, another one to play the video again with the cursor still hidden.

Just hit the space bar to pause and unpause.

I too have had this problem.

Used to happen a lot for me. I've adjusted somewhat. Also, this was way more annoying when the "resume" feature was broken. It'd be cool if they could implement a fix though. Usability is a big thing when getting people to stick around your site. If I were new here and that happened, unaware of the resume feature, I'd probably just leave the site.

Oh man, I'm not alone with my problem!

I drive myself insane. Sometimes i have 2-3 tabs open in giantbomb and i forget on which one i'm playing a podcast. So i close it and immediatly realize what i've done.

I've found now that the GB video player is mostly successful at saving and resuming my place in videos, the few times clicking a drop down by accident has been a 3-4 second issue, at most.

What really grinds my gears about this beautiful website is that the mobile version doesn't show the "coming up" section

I have never ever had this happen to me. Although I have seen people complain about it a few times now...

I just about always download the videos and play them in VLC, the exception being if I'm watching a trailer or something short, so this has never really been a problem for me.

I do that a few times a week. (Though I'm also that asshole who mistakenly hits the "alert" button in chat windows at work all the time.)

Yeah, has happened to me a bunch, have been a bunch of threads about it.

Solution: Use Fill Browser or Full Screen mode. (Or download the video. Or watch on YouTube, if it's non-premium content.)

I've been using Fill Browser more often, and it does the trick.

YES IT'S THE WORST AND IT STILL HAPPENS TO ME LIKE ONCE A WEEK EVEN AFTER THAT THREAD IN THE BUG REPORTING FORUMS GOT STICKIED LIKE 8 MONTHS AGO AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
