So can we get an Otogi 3? And a 1+2 remake collection. Best games From has made :D
Dark Souls Creator Now From Software's President
@sunjammer: I don't know I think that Kings Field world felt even bleaker and more dangerous then either Dark or Demon's worlds. That might just be because of the first person view making it so enemies could sneak up on you easier. Oh well its not really a sad thing to see it go since it does live on in a way.
Seems like a no-brainer.
Eh... Taking an obvious "creative" type and sticking him in a more bureaucratic position could end up as a lose-lose for everyone involved. I definitely don't know enough about him to call it a "no-brainer." It's a vastly different job type.
And as to the best-ness of the games. I played them in the following order: Dark Souls, Demon's Souls, Dark Souls 2. DS2 is definitely the weakest of the bunch, and I can see the merits of the first two games. I thought the level design of Dark Souls 1 put it over the top thought. It's really an incredibly intricate setup that provides a number of "oh, this connects to THAT" moments.
I'm happy to see it, he's made games that are his personal vision and weren't designed by committee and it shows with DeS and DaS. I hope now with him at the helm, we see more games that follow from that same mentality of sticking with their vision and are unique.
@cthomer5000: Just to add to the many comments about Souls preferences, I would agree that DS 2 is definitely the weakest in terms of atmosphere/style; but, as integral as those elements are to the Souls experience, I think the refinements to the gameplay and variety to the action on DS2 put it on top. I'm not trying to combat your opinion in particular; I just thought your post was a good one to respond to since it seems to actually touch on what I feel people constantly have the debates about the Souls games for: the art direction.
Seems like a no-brainer.
Pretty much.
That dude looks like he would make the Souls games. Straight excited about trolls and knights and shit.
I know this is a long shot. I was hoping that From Software would make a reboot or re-imagining of Tenchu: Stealth Assassins.
Passive voice, Patrick? tsk tsk.
Both uses of passive in the article are totally appropriate and better choices than active. If there was never a time to use passive voice, we wouldn't have it.
I have no idea what Miyazaki being president actually means for the company, but hopefully it's him having more control over the games the make and not him being too busy running the place to actually work on games.
Seems like a no-brainer.

I don't think it is a vastly different job type. Since they've been acquired, director is likely to be a more creative position, and he's already lead teams which is perfectly good experience for leading a studio.
woah, the animated gifs are getting out of control. Thought that was a 90's thing. God. Anyway, just call it Beast Soul Master 200X, I don't give a shit. Looks awesome.
Did anyone else have a ridiculously hard time reading this because the fucking company's name is "From Software"
Yes! I was like, what has Patrick been smoking?!?
@divergence: Go to the NeoGAF forum's during a big gaming event like E3. You'll be flooded with animated gif's. So he's good at making games... so he knows how to run a company? Time will tell.
