I've really liked Bale ever since I saw him as Patrick in American Psycho. Really, I think he's done an amazing acting job in every movie he's been in. Including Batman Begins, which I feel he did a great job of being batman in
I feel that compared to every other movie he's done, his performance in DK was lackluster. I just didn't feel convinced about certain things. Like when Bruce tells alfred he "cant endure this", i just didnt feel convinced the Bruce would feel that way yet . And of course his batman voice was certainly harder to understand this time then in BB.
Though maybe it wasn't his acting. It could have just as easily been the script. Or it could be a result of what I think was the films biggest flaw, the pacing. I think some parts in the movie where paced too quickly for them to have the appropriate impact.
Anyway, thats just how I felt
Anyone else think Bale's acting was sub par in DK
"Rowr said:"YESThat voice was so stupid! I laughed every time batman talked.
or maybe there was just to much focus stolen by the other actors. I dont really think he is the ideal batman though.
Man his fake-ass gravelly voice when he was in the suit was annoying.

yeh it really had the opposite effect than it should. He couldnt quit pull it off.
The voice was a bit bizarre - but i guess the point is he couldnt use his normal voice at all - its the kinda world where all it would take is one villian with voice analysis software And boom - everyone knows who he is
That and i guess there would be 1 in every 5 villians scared sh**eless by it xD
Yeah - i was a bit supsupicious when i went to see the film, suspicious that all the hype around his performance was sheerly because he died and everyone was being nice
But my god he was awesome in it - genuinely disturbing - i've never witnessed a villain so cowardly and feeble manage to freak out so many people and succeed in his goals
Christian Bale is a legend. His acting was not bad in any way. The Joker stole the show, and compared to his other movies, Bale wasn't getting much screen time.
His acting was fine, but I agree that it wasn't his best performance. Go watch "The Machinist" or "American Psycho" if you want some fantastic acting.
Yeah, I think Christian Bale is awesome. Sometimes the Batman voice is weird, like when he's making a joke like the hockey pants one at the beginning, that was cringe worthy. But at other times the voice fits, and doesn't bother me at all.

But I didn't find anything wrong with his acting in this one, watch the first, his character is the one who is wooden and almost emotionless, that because that is who his character is.
"No. But Batman wasn't particularly front and center in the movie."That's what I was going to say. The movie had a much heavier focus on the Joker and Harvey Dent, and the sort of paranoia and mass fear that the Joker creates. Even though it was a Batman movie, it wasn't really focused on Batman until the very end.
"EndlessMike said:i loved all those movies (american psycho most of all though)"His acting is always sub-par. He's like Keanu Reeves/wooden plank.Um, no. Go and see The Machinist, The Prestige, Rescue Dawn and American Psycho. Then tell me he's a wooden plank.

i liked rescue dawn too, but i find it funny that bale had voice issues there too. he had to whisper the whole movie (for obvious reasons) but it made him hard to hear as well.
"I think he's a good actor, but Heath Ledger as The Joker easily stole the show. If he doesn't get an Oscar, there is simply no justice in the world. Likewise, Aaron Eckhart as Twoface was great too.Why are people simply talking oscar? I saw academy award winning stuff there.

Christian Bale was fine, he just didn't have a whole lot of things to do with the character than like in Batman Begins, but what he did was good (but you could say that it was one of his more weak performances). And he was completely overshadowed by Ledger who did an amazing job as the joker (in one moment he could be funny and in the next moment he could be scary as hell). Aaron Eckhart pulled of a great performance too as Harvey Dent, but, like Christian, was completely overshaddowed by Heath Ledger.
If you want to see some of Christian Bales best performances watch American Psycho, The Machinist, The Prestige, and perhaps Rescue Dawn (I havent seen the whole movie but from what I saw he was pretty good).
And I don't mind his Batman voice, I think it is kewl..

The thing most casting directors don't realize when casting for a super hero, is you are casting 2 characters at the same time. I think Bale played an amazing Bruce Wayne, but whenever he spoke as Batman, I couldn't help but think, "Why does he sound so throaty?" and then when they did a closeup on his face (as Batman), his mouth just didn't really look right...
The best person to ever play Bruce Wayne/Batman in my opinion was Michael Keaton.
I thought Bruce Wayne was fine but his acting with Batman I wasn't so much a fan of. The voice was a bit much and especially during any moment where he was trying to be dramatic like the end speech for instance. I didn't really notice the voice the first time I saw it but the 2nd time some kids were making fun of it any time he spoke and it sort of took me out of the film after that.
