It's your avatar so who cares what other people think? I always change my avatars because I like the look of it, just like the way I like my sense of fashion because I'm wearing the bloody clothes not them.

This is a forum. People post their comments. YOU solicited those comments with this retarded topic, so you surely must have expected people to be rude and make jokes at your expense. Really, people tend to get more easily recognized if they stick with one distinct icon. So when guys like jakob187 (it is 187, right?) change it, people start to lose their minds. I'm sure I'm more known for my Mumbo Jumbo icon than my user name...

I actually remember your name more though the avatar does help. On the otherhand I like changing my avatar a lot but I do like to stick to theme of teapots. Most people remember my name anyway so either way it's a win-win situation for me.
There was a topic a long while ago about whether you remember a person by their name or avatar and there was a strong preferance for avatar's as far as I remember. I know personally that I am one of the people that often remember people more by their avatar's so changing your icon could be annoying because it would make it harder to remember who you are and what youve said before on the forum. While you have every right to change your avatar a thousand times it just means that a lot of people on the forum will remember who you are less which could change their interactions with you (usually by treating you as a new person rather than individually).

yes, it bothers me. i hate when people change their avatars as idk who it is now. i kind of wish this site had cigs so i can see their the same person. i'm bad with names so i see their avatar and sig.

I Don't think I am noticeable enough for people to care if I change mine, There are some that I would take awhile to get used to, I remember MB's change (For the better) took me awhile to get used to that,
Also Pornstorestiffi changed his, I asked him to change it back, coz it's awesome.
I think it is awesome when something happens and everyone has the same one for awhile,
But it's a pain to get used to another avatar, as it's apart of your "Internet Personality" if you like to read one persons point of view on something and they change what makes them recognizable, then you might miss some of the things they have to say,

Pretty much what I think. A few names are memorable, but most of the time I'm looking at a 1,500+ post count thinking, "What? I've never even heard of them." I do remember Red12b, though, because he answered a QOTW and has red hair. And always has his car in his pic.
