Ooooohhhhhh, Really? I watched the intro every episode of TNG, but after season 1 I skipped pretty much every DS9 intro.
I hated the intro at first because the visuals were really boring with the dumb slow pan they do over the station, but I eventually got over that and absolutely loved the intro just because the song was so majestic and amazing!
See how much easier it is to appreciate the song when it's taken out of the context of the intro sequence?
I agree, Deep Space 9 had an awsome theme. By far the best of the startreks.
Swallow the win, bitches! Man alive that theme still revivifies me to the point where I could demolish a walrus with one punch. Check out the skirt in that show, that's what they thought women should look like in space year 1980. Warning! If you watch that opening theme twice in a row you will grow a hella-moustache and can pregnify a woman just by twisting one side of it while looking her up and down.
When you're a kid, this tune is impossible not to whistle along to. It doesn't hurt that the announcer calls him 'Ronnie Howard', and for a brief period, referred to him as 'little Ronnie Howard'.
I've played all the videos in this thread so far. They're all great. Knight Rider and TNG are my favorites though. I can't remember there being an 80s show with a straight terribad theme song?
Some of my favorites have already been mentioned. I'm a sucker for sci-fi and so I'm all for the cheesy songs in Firefly and Enterprise. While I do love me some Doctor Who, I don't particularly like the theme songs too much. The Doctor's theme tho for the latest doctor is freaking fantastic. Obviously Fresh Prince.
Now, here are some themes I shouldn't admit to enjoying but. . . man, they're catchy as hell.
Yup. and one thanksgiving years and years ago, my cousin and I ended up watching an entire marathon of this. At first it was jokingly, but after like 8 or 9 episodes in, we quietly watched, neither of us willing to admit interest but also neither one of us willing to change the channel.
Another one that'll forever be burned into my memory.

This one sounds a lot like the music from Paprika. Sorta groovy
Can't do much better than the classic cowboy bebop in both opening and just overall quality of the series. Has a real detective western type vibe to it.

This is one of the first anime series I watched and the theme is still one of my favorites. One of the only ones I'd actually listened to outside of watching the show.
I think like a lot of show themes I like, this one just grew on me because of the show it was attached to. I actually really like the bumper songs too though I can't really find those.
