Have you tried uninstalling firefox completely, then reinstalling the program?

How about checking their support section or browsing the web using another browser to find a possible solution?

Are there any spyware or viruses on your PC? Have you done a scan to see?

Is there any applications running in the background that may interfere with firefox?

It depends. If you're just typing "GIVE ME SEXY PRONZ" into Google, then you're probably gonna get some viruses. But if you're smart, you will be able to fap in safety.

Going with some of the advice here:

Don't click links...no matter how attractive they look.

This is a pretty common problem with Firefox considering its open 'extension' nature.

Typically, it's caused by a badly written extension or plugin, although that's not to say it could be caused by a problem external to the application.
If you want to diagnose your problem, go to Firefox's add-on interface (Tools > Add-ons) and disable all extensions and plugins. If this fixes the crashing problem, re-enable each plugin one at a time (enable it, restart the browser), followed by each extension one at a time and try to pinpoint what is causing it to crash.
Alternatively, if you're not too worried about your user data, do a full clean of all your Firefox configuration files (assuming you're on Vista and your Users directory is on C:):
  • Uninstall Firefox and remove the Program Files/Mozilla Firefox directory
  • Remove C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla (alternatively, use Run to go to %APPDATA% and remove Mozilla)
  • Remove C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\Mozilla if it exists

If you want to post your extensions/plugins here, we can probably share some wisdom as to what causes the crash.
99% of the time, if you keep up-to-date with security updates and use UAC, you're not going to get any 'spyware' directly through Firefox, except in the cases of new exploits and where you decide to downloading random executables, but it's advisable to run a spyware check/virus scan on a regular basis, just to be on the safe side.

Haha, noob. Who uses IE? That's the most terrible web browser and is totally insecure. Firefox is way smoother and efficient. Ever since Firefox came out, IE has been trying to catch up.

if you feel the need to look at risky porn sites, at least do so while on linux. its impossible to make effective spyware for that group of operating systems.

Any reason to get people using linux is good. most people hear about how easy ubuntu is to use, well even though it is very easy.... linux mint comes with practically everything(mostly media, dvd playback/mp3/movies etc) installed right out of the box.

best of all.... its free.

Every other person on this site fails at sarcasm detection. :/

Anyway, I've had a problems with my browser crashing if I have loads of youtube or similar running at once. Might be related to the flashblocker addon. Doesn't happen often, though.

I think I've got 3.0.7 but I'm using XP so it might be different. But if you go to a lot of suspect sites you might want to get something like NoScript. maybe even Greesemonkey to further tweak your browsing. Tor and Privoxy wouldn't hurt, but I don't think it would help in your situation either.
