How long can cats play dead for?

My cat is a silly-willy, he's so cute!  Lately, though, he has been falling down alot, and sometimes he flops around on the ground.  I've made some videos and put them on YouTube, but HE KEEPS DOING IT!  It's like he can't help himself.  Today, after doing one of his crazy-crazies (as I like to call the flopping) he started to play dead.  This was at about 1:30PM CST, and it's now 6:00.  How long do cats play dead for?
Also, on an unrelated note, does anyone know where I can get an old-fashioned thermomator?  The one I had in my backyard broke.  I think a loose dog or something got ahold of it, because I found it shattered on the ground and all the mercury was gone.  I feel sorry for that pet's owner!

YouTube took them down due to a terms of use violation.  All the comments I got while they were up were about animal cruelty and that my cat is sick, but I only feed him the canned food I get at the grocery store.  Plus, I wuv him so much that I would never hurt him!

ummm yeah... maybe you could have a look at your cat for us... check he is still breathing. coz if hes not thats probs not a good sign. But seriously, id take him to the vet, it doesn't sound like normal cat behaviour.
