Mostly F. although i don't follow any religion faithfully (not a pun).
I consider myself to be.... (Question of the Day - 8-30-10)
There is no need to simplify or sum up the definitions.
Atheism is a belief that there is no God or gods.
Religion is a set of beliefs concerning the reason for the universe, which sometimes involves the supernatural.
These are right from your definitions.
Atheists have a belief that the universe was not created by God. It's not an absence of religion, it's an absence of God, which is a common belief shared by many on this board.
To be fair, in this regard, it's more of a psuedo-religion.
There are actually several organized religions that practice atheism: Jainism, some forms of Buddhism, even Hinduism holds atheism as a valid belief set.
I can understand where you wouldn't see this, as much of popular media generalizes religion as only the crazy people who believe in "spaghetti monsters".
You'll have to forgive me as well, for when I see a group of people who share a common belief system gather so that they may discuss their beliefs to further themselves and then label themselves under a common entity, I tend to generalize what makes a religion, too.
I see, and I understand.
But nah, I'm fully with Modern Satanism, the name is just horrible tho, but such is life xD
