Never heard of it, watched the clip on here and have to say no.
Is "Bob's Burgers" the new "The Simpsons"?
The Simpsons actually have characters worth a damn, well in the first 10 seasons any way. I could probably name each character in the town and indentify them by more than one characteristic. They all got their episode to shine with in the first 10 seasons. The stories have actual morals and some great writing, Bart gets a F, is one of these episodes where the comedy takes the back seat.
But I might check out Bob's Burgers, but that clip has a huge "remember the time, because I can't think of anything funny to put in to this scene, so lets put something random on for 5 seconds" that Family Guy does every minute.

If we are comparing the vast amounts of cultural saturation the Simpsons had in their prime (which we aren't), I think the only thing that comes close is Angry Birds.
As far story structure and heart, Bob's Burgers IS the spiritual successor to The Simpsons. Bob's Burger can be silly, crude, and weird but always has the love the family as its core. Back in its prime, it was that heart that kept the Simpsons from turning into a crazy mess (see Family Guy) and make the crazy moment that much more crazy.
I love Bobs Burgers, which means that FOX is going to cancel it after this season to spite me.
Yeah pretty much this, like when Homer jumped the canyon on the skateboard, one of the funniest moments in Simpsons history but it only happened because he was trying to stop Bart from doing it.
@FancySoapsMan: Check out season 8 and 9 with classics like New York vs Homer Simpson and The Cartridge Family, if you enjoy it. Go seek out season 1-7
@Poppduder: it's on hulu and fox's website if ya wanna watch it. First season is on netflix.
Anyways, this show has really surprised me. It's no futurama, but it could get there.
for some reason, robot college really got to me.
Considering The Simpsons was excellant in its prime and Bobs Burgers is a crappy show I would have to say no.
Ive been bored with the Simpsons for 10+ years. I still watch some, but its hard not to be numb to it. Really have enjoyed Bobs Burgers. They do have really great voice talent for the show. All the of the main characters are perfect. I dont think the show has the range the Simpsons has though.

@TruthTellah: Literally the only TV I watch every week is WWE's Monday Night RAW every monday beyond that I don't watch TV anymore.
Wow, yeah? Do you watch online videos a lot or something? Are videogames your big extra time sucker?
I mean, I have some friends who don't watch TV, but they're at least mildly insane. So, it's simply a bit surprising to me.
Yeah pretty much. If I'm sitting in front of a screen I'd much rather play something than be passive and watch it.
I suppose that isn't really too surprising, considering this is a gaming site, after all. heh. Do you read a lot?

Bob's Burgers and Archer are the two best animated shows on TV right now. In my not so humble opinion.
I love the people behind Bob's Burgers (and Home Movies is still one of my favorite things ever to exist), but Bob's Burgers is fucking terrible. Other than the "there is a middle-class family in animated form" setup, it does nothing to remind me of The Simpsons in its prime.
I don't know, I feel like all the parts are there and that I "should" enjoy it, but I have never laughed while watching it. It just bores me to tears.
I've never seen an episode of Bob's Burger. For that matter I have not watched Fox's animation lineup for some years. The shows usually end on syndication and I don't feel the need to watch them on Sunday. It's surprising how many TV shows Fox used over the years to piggyback the Simpsons success. http://www.11points.com/TV/11_Awful_Shows_FOX_Has_Aired_Right_After_The_Simpsons

Man, I'm surprised at how many people are saying they hate the show. I can understand disliking it, or being indifferent. But HATE? Dang.
It's the Internet...gray areas are hard to come by.
Anybody who doesn't think Bob's Burgers is at the very least a decent show is somebody with shit taste in television.

This review of the latest episode basically goes into the comparison of The Simpsons, as well as explain how the show was one of their top 10 shows of 2012.
So yes, I think it's very much up to the level of classic Simpsons at this point.
i think the simpsons, even in its prime, was pretty mediocre. it was just the only show like that on TV at the time.
I would say the Simpsons was on par with Married With Children. If anything has come close to either of those in the last decade, I'd say it's probably Raising Hope. Also, I'm not a fan of Bob's Burgers or pretty much anything animated nowadays.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now, what I'm with isn't it, and what's "it" seems weird and scary to me.
It's clearly not going to be the megasmash that the simpsons has been, and although it hit its stride after a few episodes I feel a bit like it's already running out of steam a little bit.
However what does make it a successor to the simpsons, in a way that Seth Macfarlane shows (which I've heard some people say similar things about?) is that although the family is dysfunctional, there is a genuine warmth, both between the characters, and on the part of the creators for their characters. I think that's exactly what earlier Simpson's episodes brought to the table.
@artofwar420:To be fair that's not a common thing in the show, just an unfortunate clip choice.
I like Bob's Burgers, there's usually at least a few good laughs per episode, not sure I'd go as far as to say it's as good as the classic Simpsons episodes though. I don't like the internet's need to kind of battle everything against each other, they are just two good shows.

I've never seen the show (havnt had even basic cable in a few years) but how come no one told me John Benjamin had a new show and judging by youtube clips it's decently pretty funny?
More than its a Jon Benjamin show, its a Loren Bouchard show. You know, Dr. Katz, Home Movies, Lucy Daughter of the Devil.
I do see where you're coming from, and I do get the feeling some people here are trying to compare it to modern Simpsons, but yeah the obsured situational comedy which comes from the heart (actions as a result of love and clear motivation) is what The Simpsons were unrivalled at back in seasons 3 - 8.... but to say it comes close to those years in terms of quality.... not really & I don't think it had the potential to ever become the phenomenon 'The Simpsons' was..
In it's self Bob's Burgers is a very enjoyable easy viewing with some good jokes a long the way and likeable characters. It's certainly better than The Simpsons in it's current state... which is a damn shame because reading this thread it seems like some people have shunned The Simpsons completely as a result of the trash they've put out the past 14 years or so.... guys if you haven't then please obtain series 3 - 8 and watch some of the sharpest written comedy every made.
