Well it's been a while since I've done a review, and i didn't feel like reviewing the recent anime or games, so the PS3's netflix app is going under the microscope, though far warning, it's a crappy microscope

The disk based Netflix app allows you to stream movies from netflix to your TV using your PS3, a consume a large amount of bandwidth in the process.

Problems
It consumes a lot of bandwidth, with a good connection, you will be able to stream a movie with no interruptions, but when using a wireless connection it's hard to get any thing done on other devices using the same connection, a problem that's not present when using a laptop and netflix's instant play feature.
Controlling can be a bit annoying, Using the standard PS3 controller for normal movies i found can be frustrating, especially since if the L2 or R2 triggers are so much as brushes again something the movie will either skip to the next scene or restart the scene your on, while using this i was careful to avoid this so i don't know what the trigger buttons do (Professionalism!!!) i was able to uncover another announce, if the left joystick is for what ever reason nudge up, the movie will stop, and you will go back to the info screen, you will then have to wait for the program to load up the movie again to resume (though it is faster then the first rendering). i noticed that pressing the triangle will bring a menu for dvd commands, though i haven't tested to see if these work during movies (Professionalism!!!).
Searching, ya can't do it using the PS3 as far as i can see, from the looks of things if you want to add a movie to your watch instantly Q, you have to search Netflix on a computer. (to do this you have to find a movie with the watch instantly feature and add it to your Q).
Not the complete lists, they for some reason don't have complete lists, ok the is mostly understandable considering that for most genres there are a hundred titles, and navigating through that can take some time, for some one them, like anime you got to wonder why they don't have a complete list, on the site they have about 24, 25 anime titles available for the instant watch, but if you look at the anime section, they only show 13 titles, this bugged me.
10 to 15 second delay when pausing

Pros
DVD quality (though not blu-ray)
for the most part videos run smoothly
Set up is easy.

 Final verdict....
there will most likely be refinements eventually that will probably address most of these issues, so i'm not giving it one,

Now about some movies i've watched with netflix

Dead and Breakfast
This is a horror/comedy based of of a novel. the movie wasn't bad, though it wasn't that great either, most of the jokes fell flat, except for maybe some of the song jokes, and that one zombie ventriloquist, it also made it hard to take the horror aspect seriously, instead of dividing the movie into first half comedy, second horror (kinda like what they did with the behind the mask movie, where the first halve was a documentary about slasher films, while the second half was a slasher film), they tried to intertwine the two, there where six characters, but it seems that the personality was only divided into post posed Jon, and Melody, it was pretty hard to care about the other characters.
  3/5

National Lapoon's Dorm Daze 2
Of all the live action movies i've seen last year, Dorm Daze had to be one of my favorite, Dorm Daze 2 trys to change the formula, in the first one the set up was rather simple, and through a lot of misunderstandings and pure stupidity, the situation spirals down into a clusterfuck of School Rumble-esqe comedy (and the movie was really funny) This one however, This one however takes a long time to really get going, as a result the plot isn't nearly as convoluted as the first one, but things don't get that interesting till the play Death by Blackout starts, as for returning characters, i noticed about five or six, unfortunately two where the most annoying characters in the previous one (admittedly they are made slightly interesting when they are called lesbians, and the two start questing there sexuality.)
4/5
